Metropolis 2.0.0 release candidates -- call for testers! - jingai - 2012-09-05

BETA IS OVER. Metropolis 2.0.0 will be in the official repository soon!

Metropolis 2.0.0 is coming soon. To solicit more feedback from testers, we are pushing out final beta versions ("Release Candidates"). The download link and changelog here will be updated for each RC release.

The current schedule is to release 2.0.0 some time in October, provided that no major issues are discovered.

Known outstanding issues can be seen here.

Download the latest Release Candidate here (20121028 - 2.0.0rc6)

NOTE: The version number will be 1.9.X which corresponds with 2.0.0rcX. This is normal!

Please refrain from posting feature requests in this thread. Only bug reports here! Feature requests and the like are still welcome in the other forum threads.

I'm new to Metropolis and my first glance is very favorable. Congratulations and thanks for all the hard work on a fantastic skin.

Pros:
I love the Music entry point to artists!
Music lyrics work great.

Issues:
Seems a little slower than previous GIT - but very slightly - maybe 10%.
When changing "Colours" in Appearance | Skin - sometimes the change does not complete and sometimes it's immediate.

It shouldn't be any slower unless you've enabled more Home screen stuff (recent/random/recommended items, Addon shortcuts, etc), but that's to be expected.

I can't replicate this here. Are you on Eden or a Frodo nightly? If Frodo, it's possible your particular build has a bug.

I've seen it happen on occasion, but it's a xbmc thing and not related to the skin. The same thing happens in Neon.

It is extremely slight and should be written off as just my rig if nobody else sees it.

It's Eden, but it looks like stoli has seen it, and certainly not a big deal.

I have been testing it out more today and everything looks very solid.

Its been a few weeks using XBMC & I like it most with Metropolis Skin.

Yesterday only I have updated the RC & its really perfect in all terms.. It has covered up lot of new things that I thought should be there.

Only one thing if it can be possible:
In Videos - Files I use view type as "Files" as it fits best to me with all required information. It would be really great if Movie Genres can also be shown in the files view mode as shown in other modes such as Low List, Gallary, Poster, Fanart. As of now I need to go into the movie information to see the movie genres..

In a few minutes I am starting a complete windows re-install, I will install this RC right off the bat, and let you know how it works.
Thanks for all the hard work and dedication to making the XBMC experience better.

I thought I'd take a look at it before I redo Windows, and the link is for 1.9.2 I was hoping that was just a type o, but when I installed it, sure enough it was the GIT 1.9.2

Just installed RC2, not sure if this minor issues was in RC1 or earlier.

While in Music library and viewing Artist information, the text does not scroll in the bio section.

I have scrolling turned on in skin settings.

But the version you have is correct. 1.9.X==2.0.0rcX. That is, in this case, 1.9.2 is 2.0.0rc2.
