RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi - miappa - 2013-02-25

@popcornmix
Is it possible that one of these patches might have broken the 3D tag function?
I am getting weird behaviour and cannot solve it with settings, tried everything within XBMC´s GUI and video settings.
Whatever settings I use, everything looks like it should work. The TV receives correct info regarding refresh rate and Pi sends 3D-signal, but it ends up "locked" with SBS.
So even if the TV is in 3D-mode it shows shows 2 side by side pictures and there is no way to get actual 3D. And GUI seems to be standard (not half).

Let me know if you need more info or if you want me to test anything.

P.S: This is not a big deal for me, and perhaps there is something else that has caused this. For now I have simply removed the tags.

@ rbej

Your last version works fine for me i have no errors, the big HD movies works fine, the only thing that i have is, that it takes some time bevor HD movies starts, raspberry is trying to fill up the buffer, i use 20% so thats fine but after this i got no buffering anymore.

So greate work.

Cheers.

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi - rbej - 2013-02-25

5% is the best for Rpi.

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi - Pierre1985 - 2013-02-25

may problem is that if the buffer is to small i got the buffer "feature" back.
my rpi is conected via powerlan, which is not so powerfull and in big action sceens with to much information i got problems.

Cheers.

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi - Trixster - 2013-02-25

Rbej's current build works perfectly for me with all different types of HD and SD content, running off a (relatively slow) NAS. I couldn't get 1080p content to play over a friend's Powerlan at all and gave up in the end.

Still the only one having this, even with latest rbej ? :x

Those screenshots look like it's a font issue. Have you tried changing fonts / bold / shadow / etc?

Quite possibly related to this issue, maybe a memory leak or simply not enough memory (try tweaking GPU memory split).

Most settings are defaults, I remember I tried playing a bit with font settings without success.
Looks really like robz (from the other thread) problem, but it takes often an episode to bug (because it is French subtitles maybe, simpler font ?).
I tried playing a bit with gpu memory too, increasing the value (512Mb board) without success too.
Also, after that, XBMC become unusable shortly after ; ans before there's like a little "freeze" (very short).

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi - nuttypro69 - 2013-02-25

OK now this is weird can someone install Khan academy video addon and see if it open as for me it just stays turning the blue arrow then I hit the back button and XBMC just restart.running rbej last custom build maybe it is a addon issue not sure any help will be great thanks.

- OpenElec build r13361
- Xbmc 12.0.2 Frodo (almost 100 new fixes)
- Rpi kernel 3.6.y (16.02.2013)
- Rpi firmware (20.02.2013)
- Pvr Addon (16.02.2013) with PVR TvHeadend 1.6.18 and MythTv 1.6.9 (21.02.2013)
- Xvdr Addon (22.02.2013)
- Gpu memory set to 100mb on default for Rpi 256mb (fix kernal killing Xbmc task on Rpi 256mb board) and Gpu memory set to 256mb on default for Rpi 512mb.

Is there an easy way to install this on the SD using Windows? The guides I've seen are all about getting an .img onto the SD.

Install any Windows image you may have and then follow the OpenElec manual update procedure.

No more cachemembuffersize in advenced setting. Please delete it and add this:

<alwaysforcebuffer>false</alwaysforcebuffer>
<freememorycachepercent>5</freememorycachepercent>

1. alwaysforcebuffer: This will force everything ran through dvdplayer to be buffered that would not be normal buffered except Optical Media. This includes SMB, Local Files, OS Network Shares, etc.

2. freememorycachepercent: The amount of free memory to use as buffer size. Please note that of the percentage of free memory used ~75% will be used for forward buffering and ~25% will be used for the back buffer.

Add to advencedsettings <guires>XXXX</guires>

XXXX = GUI resolution. 480p,720p,900p,1080p. <guires>720</guires>, <guires>1080</guires> etc...

Update Instruction:

http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Updating_OpenELEC

For Rpi 512Mb set gpu_mem=256 and change GUI to 1080p.

For Rpi 256Mb set gpu_mem=100 and change GUI to 900p.

or clean install:

Before update please remove this lines from config.txt

start_file=start_x.elf
fixup_file=fixup_x.elf

New codes now is included in start.elf and fixup.dat files.

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi - doveman2 - 2013-02-26

How do I disable the swapfile in this? I really don't want to have it constantly writing to my USB and wearing it out.

I've just tested and 3DSBS puts the TV and UI into SBS mode, and 3DTAB puts the TV and UI into TAB mode.
Can you confirm this is working as you expect with an earlier build?

What does "tvservice -s" report when playing a 3D movie? Is the OSD "doubled"? Does manually enabling 3D mode work?

Anyone else tested 3DSBS/3DTAB with rbej's latest build?

@rbej
There's some Pi specfic libcec commits (https://github.com/Pulse-Eight/libcec/commits/master) which might be worth including in a build.

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi - miappa - 2013-02-26

I´ll test with an earlier build, to be honest I have not tested it with OE yet (sorry) so it´s either an update that Sam pushed or something else happened my Pi/setup.
I run OE as well on another setup, will try an earlier build and report back.
If that works I´ll try rbej´s latest build and see if that works as well (should have done this before I reported... :S)

To answer your questions:
tvservice -s: state 0x12001a [HDMI CEA (32) 3D SbS RGB lim 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 24Hz, progressive
OSD is not doubled
Manually does not work. TV is in 3D mode, but SBS does not work. I hope this makes sense... :S

As I said, I´ll try some things and report back.

RE: OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi - xbs08 - 2013-02-26

Does the swap make a difference in perfomance on a 256 RPi?

This forum uses Lukasz Tkacz MyBB addons.
