Playing Audio-CD - Patatra - 2012-09-29

Hi all!

I'm using OpenElec last build (r12015), working like a charm (except the changing audio track bug) for playing movie.

But I'd like to use the pi to play Audio-CD, so I bought an external CD/DVD drive.
But, when I try to play CD, XBMC see the disc and the tracks on it and anyway, it can't play.

Here is the log with debug mode on : http://pastebin.com/pNSDMw0S

I don't know if it's an Openelec bug or XBMC one. I tried with Raspbmc and Xbian, but they didn't even see that a disc is inserted, so at the moment, OpenElec does better Wink.

Realy Audio-CD playback was never tested. Therefore it is not supposed to work.

RE: Playing Audio-CD - Patatra - 2012-09-29

But not supposed not working either? Too bad because it lacks just few things I guess.
And it looks like those posts : USB dvd rom drive won't play Audio CD and USB CDROM drive and CD AUDIO/RIP issue.

For what I read, it could be a problem with libcdio..

Update : still the same with r12254.

I opened a ticket : here

Hello Patatra,
I plan to use RPi to play audio CD-s with XBMC too, so it would be great to solve this problem.
I opened a ticket on libcdio tracker: https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?38202
A developer guy need more info and more logs to determinate problem.
But now I haven't Pi and external CDROM, could You help he to find something?

RE: Playing Audio-CD - theol - 2013-02-06

It's the same probleme for me, too. But I does not understand what the developer needs. Could anybody explain where from I get the information, that are needed.

RE: Playing Audio-CD - altarama - 2013-12-19

Has anyone found a way to play audio CDs on an external USB CD/DVD player with XBMC?

The patches and solutions seem to be for Linux and RaspBMC but I cannot get this to work on Windows. We have laptops with no internal CD/DVD drive, which is why we need this to work.

If you are asking about windows, then you are probably best off asking in a general xbmc forum (not a rapsberry pi specific one).

Thank you, sorry about that. I was looking at the libcdio tracker case and the developer was asking if anyone tested on Win32.
