[Yatse] remote software keyboard won't work - Lepirate62 - 2012-12-15

Hi All,

My installation of xmc is about to fit my needs but there is one point I have to solve to finalise it.
I have no keyboard on my computer and I use my android phone with Yatse to remote controle xbmc.

here is my question :
Have you any idea why this f****** keyboard won't work ?

Keyboard emulation is up, upnp is up, webserver is up...

I have made no change to yatse since it used to work for a previous xbmc installation.

Welcome to the XBMC forums.

I just moved this thread to the Supplementary Tools for XBMC forum where it'll have more visibility with folks who are familiar with Yatse. You should also select Edit/Full Edit on your post and add "Yatse" to the title so people browsing the list of threads will know which app you're talking about.

Thanks for your help. I'm new on the forum and I really took my time to put my post in the appropriate forum. Since Yatse used to work for a previous xbmc installation I thought It would'nt be the element where the misconfigution is...
But you should be right, this post will have more chance to be resolved by people familiar with Yatse.

Hi Tolriq,

Yes, everything works : left/right but also yatse is able to see when music is played and it shows album art and everrything...

And what part of the keyboard does not work ?

Keymap mode or dialog filling ? What keyboard do you use on your phone ?

Hi Tolriq,

I'm using xbmc 12 with Yatse 2.9.3 (I guess)
I try to use dialog filling.

I'm using slideIT. I'll test with the default android keyboard... hold on a while Smile

No, it's not better...
I never noticed there is "trace" option in the official android keyboard ! nice

but that's not why we are here.
I've also had a look in the advanced settings of Yatse : there is something called "no physical keyboard".
checking this case does nothing.

I've just had a test with the official xbmc remote (v0.8.8-beta1).

I don't know if this feature is implemented but I gives me the same result as yatse Sad

Mmmh, I guess this could be difficult to read. It should be easier if you know what I've done :

First I've enables Yatse debug
Then I've enabled xbmc debug
I went to "music" (as I remember) and tryed to use "Filter" on the left panel of Confluence for a dialog box to pop up...
I've disabled xmbc debug
I've disabled Yatse debug

Yes verbose in debug mode but well at least I know what is happening and easier to debug :p

The logs don't show any try to send any keyboard action to Xbmc Sad

The only left explanation if you tried with original Android keyboard is a bug somewhere in your Rom.

I'm not sure I'll be able to do anything if no keyboard actions gets to Yatse Sad

I'm quite sure we're going the wrong way : I installed raspbmc two weeks ago and this feature used to work with the same yatse we're debugging...

This installation of xbmc crashed (I've played to much with advancedsetting.xml I guess) so I built my own xbmc on raspbian. And now I can't use the keyboard.

That's why at the begining of the post I did not focused on Yatse but the xbmc installation / config

Well the problem is that in Yatse logs we should see lines with :
Xbmc-EventClient: a.a@289: sendButton(KB,....)

And there's none so Yatse does not even try to send keystrokes to Xbmc so there's little chance the problem is on Xbmc side Sad

don't you think it's beacause I've checked "no physical kayboard" on Post #8 ?
I'll have new try with this box uncheked
