RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - movie_enjoyer - 2013-03-14

Seriously, could this device play high profile 720P and 1080P MKV with DTS/DD and alost no stuttering at all?

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - theINSKIP - 2013-03-14

Hi movie_enjoyer....

I have been playing 720p/1080p content withe DTS through xbmc on this device, and even some 1080p 3d content. These are streamed from my NAS with no stuttering. The only problem i have is that the atv1200 loses connection to the network and requires resetting the ethernet connection.

Have you also tried to play them from external USB storage units?

No, just over the network connection.

What settings or software do you use? Would be great if this could be applied to the stripped Amlogic sticks

I use a USB external hard drive and have not had any problems with DTS or AC3 movies, except with a few movies with sample rating 44.1 KHz

Looks like there is a new firmware incoming for the ATV1200

Beware, its a test release!

Which XBMC build are you guys using? I've got android stick called Kimdecent Droid Stick A2 with Amlogic AML8726-MX inside, and I'm looking for build that can hw decode at least 720p.
Thanks!

that link just starts a download so difficult to tell what it is.

i think you might want to look up the "first user friendly" (aka XAF) version of xbmc that the website called xbmchub have built for android. its designed for use on any android machine and uses an external media player when you press play on a video file or video stream.

either that or find the "libstagefright" version of xbmc that is on this website (although worth noing the libstagefright version is experimental and hey are still fixing issues with it etc. anyway i think you are a bit off topic in this thread because this thread is about a different android box.

if you have no luck with the ones above, why not start a thread in he android section of this forum about your model of android box Smile

im no expert but the fact that the latest xbmc app from pivos works on the atv1200 doesnt mean it will work on your box. although with it having the same chipset maybe it is worth a try

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - kurjak - 2013-03-15

Thanks for thorough answer.

Here are my findings:
XAF doesn't want to use external player for some reason,
libstagefright doesn't support amlogic at all,
pivos build crashes about 30s after starting xbmc,
mygica mx atv1200 build works, but has a/v out of sync.

Geez! A box which costs nearly 100 USD cannot handle XBMC properly?! :O

I don´t want to be a GeniaPig!

Hello ladies and gentleman!Smile

I would like to ask you if anyone knows if there is a significant difference between geniatech’s ATV1200 and mygica’s ATV1200 except the fact that mygica’s doesn’t have a VGA output.Huh

And the second question is, if the mygica’s ATV1200 can be update with geniatech’s Rom. Huh

Because the only reason I end up to ATV1200 is, as I discover through your forum, that it is the only Android Box that supports surround out put through the optical port. In fact I was ready to buy the MINIX X5 and then I discover through your forum that it can output only stereo at this time.

Thank you very much for your time!

They are the same hardware, and you can update the same firmware
