Thank you for taking the time to add your advancedsettings file to this post.

I want to try and add this to my system, i have previously tried to make a advancedsettings file work to help with buffering but i have never got it working.

Do you know where i can find a guide on how to get on working ? or can you provide me with a bit of guidance ?

Thanks

@theINSKIIP

No problem. You're welcome. You don't have to do anything except put the .xml file in your userdata folder. XBMC looks for this automatically. The rules you put in the advancedsettings.xml will supersede all other settings. Just to be sure that XBMC is accepting your settings, you can exe XBMC, then exit. After that, open your log file. You should find some lines that clearly state that the xml has been read. You will also see an error right after that if XBMC had any problem with the file. Let me know how it works. Another easy way to tell is to change the value of the algorithmdirtyregions to 1 instead of 3. When I do this the UI in XBMC goes nutty. Good luck. Please let me know.

hi guys,
I have installed firmware update_MX_20130115 and XBMC version xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-20130223.apk.

I still have issues with the aspect ratio with 2.35:1 movies and real 1080p playback resolution with XBMC.
Movies with 2.35:1 seams stretched to 16:9, without the black lines up and down.
In https://www.dropbox.com/s/b41rjbjia6a4qo7/3-Vertical%20Resolution%20-%201%20Pixel.mp4 I saved a 1080p resolution test movie.

If played with the android included video player version1.73 you will see a correct full screen 1080p view, with alternating horizontal black a white lines, 1 pixel high each.
If played with the xbmc it results a big mess, because XBMC plays with 720p rows up scalling to 1080p !
XMBC does not use real full 1080p for playback?

has anyone found solutions?
Thanks!

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - thebearnecessit - 2013-03-30

first read the first post to get an idea of what android build and xbmc app to use etc.

then, off the top of my head you might want to search this thread for the following things:

crucial:
1 aspect ratio
2 android bar
(also, make sure you exit xbmc before you turn off the machine)

those are the main things but if you really want a great performance then you might want to try these:
3 using the mygica xbmc app, with the geniatech android firmware (see post 390)
4 saving the xbmc "userdata" folder to an sd card
5 advanced settings file

but none of these things are possible unless you are confident on computers. i'm afraid its a case of searching the thread and trying to figure things out since no-one has made a detailed guide yet.

but some of it is not straight forward so post back again if you get stuck.

www.geniatech.com/down-eng/androidtvbox/update_spi_mx_20130326.zip SPI
www.geniatech.com/down-eng/androidtvbox/update_MX_20130326.zip Firmware
Downlload and don't unzip, copy to SD card or USB disk, connect to the box and run upgrade->local update, select the SPI file to update first, after finished, it will restart the box, then, do the same steps to update the firmware, and XBMC is still xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-20130223.apk.

Above is a new firmware for Geniatech's dual core box, it fixed 4:3/16:9 aspect ratio and android bar problems of XBMC.

this update is new, right?
lost data or programs to do the upgrade?

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - robvh - 2013-03-30

I upgraded to XBMC 12.1 this week and find it to be much more stable than the 12.0 daily build I installed a month ago.
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Install_XBMC_for_Android
I still have XBMC freeze approx 70 minutes into a movie (from a wired SMB server), but normal TV shows (50-60 minutes) work fine, including FF and skip.
I modified the <timeseekforwardbig> in advancedsettings.xml to match the standard commercial block we have here (7 minutes).

whocares - thanks for posting, are you from geniatech?

is there any announcement or webpage on geniatechs website about this update?

the xbmc app apk that you mention from 22nd feb, who made that apk and where do we get it?

2 who cares
Thank you for info - I just did upgrade. So far it works much more better than the previous release: aspect ratio is fixed and bottom bar goes out when XBMC starts.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - Robikonobi - 2013-03-31

How did you upgrade to 12.1 with hardware acceleration on the ATV 1200. The official releases don't have hardware acceleration and the newest xios user build was from 3/20/2013 (which is still a 12.0 release). Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you need to change the output mode to 480i(NTSC) or 576i(PAL), then you will see CVBS option in setting->dispay->CVBS/YUV , select CVBS and you will get AV output on TV.
