Android firmware version V.1.03.04MX01_20130326

Files used

http://www.dvdloc8.com/dolbydtsclip.php?clipid=3

Standard android Videoplayer 1.73 to play the files via usb.
Android audio setup: Spdif passthrough or hdmi passthrough

Result of the test: only noise via spdif or hdmi.

If I use the Android digital audio output setup: PCM, the audio is OK but it is not dolby or DTS, only stereo!

Someone has verified these problems?

Thanks

Dolby and DTS have to be licensed by the vendor selling it, otherwise you get nothing.

Dolby/DTS have been cracking down hard lately on companies that don't have a license, recently a lot of iOS media players have removed Dolby support and if they were lucky got a license to use it again.

Passthrough doesnt require a license since you don't decode anything. You require only a licensed receiver/amplifier.

Are you shure that you have a real DTS or Dolby sound output?
Did you select the following in the xbmc audio setup?

thanks

yes, this is my setup, except for a small change:
I have "5.1" in speaker configuration.

Hey all,

i have the MyGica ATV520 which is basically the same as the atv1200 but smaller and does not have the component outputs and other audo outputs.

I love the box, however i am currently unable to produce real 720p with it. even though i set the resolution to 1080p 60Hz in settings, everything is up-scaled in xbmc.

I have the following questions:
1. is it possible to use the atv1200 1080p firmware on my device?
2. is there a way i can force 1080p on this device? Something about a build.prop file?

BUILD:
v1.03.04MX01_20130327

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated

The problem was my hdmi TV connection. With the optic spdif connection to the amplifier now it is all ok: dolby and dts.
Thanks

I'm trying to get the sound through the spdif.
Hdmi output makes small sound cuts during playback.
I think for the moment spdif does not happen.
I think it should be a general problem atv1200.

I'm about to buy what seems to be an unbranded version of the Geniatech ATV1200 at

http://www.chinavasion.com/china/wholesale/Home_Audio_Video/Media_Players_Smart_TV/Dual_Core_Android_TV_-_1080p_4GB_Built-in_Storage_WiFi_Android_4.0/

Anyone any experience with this one in general or with flashing the geniatech fw on this one in special?

He says he brings mini usb port ...
In the Mygica / Geniatech this port was removed, and those who have the mini usb port are those of the first generation, they were not going so well.

Thanks, but what was the problem with the first generation? At which generation are we now? Seems like they overhauled the design completely, according to the picture at http://www.geniatech.com/pa/atv1200.asp.

@linusw81

please check https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Agy09Pymg645dFh4dEJVTk00UGpVdVVZTUlPYVBvcGc#gid=0
and my post #478

i bought my one at http://www.myhdplayer.de/ as i live in germany

my conclusion so far is that it's sometimes is a little slow reacting to my keyboard entries or when i switch between full screen and channel list in DVB Viewer PVR plugin.
also at HD 1080i/p sometimes the xbmc has a little "stuttering" but movies streamed from my nas are fine
