RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - thebearnecessit - 2013-06-21

ok its all quite confusing for this box with so many different releases of the xbmc app from different organisations.

not to mention at least two firmwares to choose from (geniatech and mygica).

most people have found that the xbmc apps from pivos have proved to be the best. look on their forum for the thread saying something like "user built nightlies" to get the latest xbmc app from a guy called aasoror or something - he works for pivos and is just posting their latest builds that aren't official.

i have stuttering music playback. so i want to try the xbmc app from geniatech as recommended above.

only way i can see to get it is to download the firmware (non "SPI" link) in this post http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=150342&pid=1388321#pid1388321

then im going to unzip the file and see if i can find an xbmc apk file in there.

edit: it worked: i found an xbmc apk in the "backup" folder after i unzipped the zip file. ive installed it on my box and there's no stutter when listening to music! not tested this xbmc install with video or video addons yet though but looking good.

I tried different combination of firmwares, XMBCs , cfis/smb on ATV1200 and Mygia520-dual-core. And unable to make .rvmb to be play-able on XMBC.

I tried to use my wireless xbox 360 comptroller with my ATV1200 without success...

I have the wireless USB receiver that should work with any linux/android pc/box with the "joydev.ko" module installed/loaded in the kernel. But I discover that our ATV1200 does not have this module available... :-(

So I've sent an email to geniatech support asking for help. Today I received this patch file from "Judy" (Geniatech support). Unfortunately I'll just be able to try it tonight (Brazil time). But if someone is interested in this function, please see the patch and the install instructions below:

Code:
Dear Ricardo,

Please try to update attached patch, we confirmed it supports XBOX 360.
Copy the file to SD card or USB disk, connect to the box and run upgrade app, choose local update to upgrade the file.

Best Regards,

Judy

Hi again,

The patch worked perfectly! My wireless xbox comptroller are working fine with my ATV after applying this patch.

Now my atv is a fullhd and 5.1 mediacenter and an android game console heheh

as far as i know the answer is no. i think it only works on an extremely limited number of android devices.

When i turn off the atv1200 and turn on my xbmc settings lost(video, sound, subs settings) always is first run of xbmc but add on is there
only system settings lost and must every time adjust the settings.
Tested different version of xbmc and every time the same thing, any ideas?

Here is a patch which fixed this problem.

Copy to SD card or USB disk, connect to the box and run Upgrade app, select local update option and find the patch file to upgrade.

Note: make sure your current firmware is Geniatech 20130506 http://www.geniatech.com/news/mx-box-android-4.1-20130506-firmware-upgrading.asp
or later version, if your firmware is a custimzed version, just make sure the uboot version is 20130510 or later version.

Great, glad they are monitoring the threads and fixing what should have been fixed a long time ago..
Understanding they are marrying together a bunch of new tech, but this has been a problem for older boxes too.

never had ethernet issues, but thanks anyway.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - theINSKIP - 2013-06-25

Finally !

The ethernet drop out has been the biggest pain in my rear since owning this box.

Can't wait to get it fixed later.

starting xbmc automatically with android has caused some people problems. could this be your problem?

also try making sure you exit xbmc before you turn off the box.
