These are the steps I took to set mine up.

Install the latest Geniatech Firmware

Rename the zip files to img files and copy them to SD card. Boot the box with SD card inserted and with the small recessed button on the back pressed in. Update the SP1 file first.

Uninstall the XBMC software that comes with the Geniatech firmware and install the Pivos one.

Install XBMC addon repositories using Fusion

If you have a large XBMC database, its a good idea to move the userdata folder from the internal memory on the box to an external SD card. To do this use an app called directorybind.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262

I am not sure what to put in the boxes (Paths) for the directorybind tool. Can someone give me the exact paths to use?

I have the standard xbmc install on ATV1200 (Newest firmware) and have a folder on my sdcard named "xbmc-data" and I only want to move this data. Any help?

Thanks as usual in advance!

Click and hold on the box where the path goes and it will allow you to browse to it. Create a userdata folder on your SD card. The target and source are a little confusing and are the opposite way round to what you may think. The source is the path to the userdata folder on the SD card. The target is the path to the userdata within the XBMC directory structure. Dont remember the exact path off the top of my head.

Sweet thanks! I figured it out with this little bit. However it seems that when you power off the unit (Unplug it) these bindings get lost?

Is there a way to safely power these down? The "power" buttong on the remote and the unit only seem to turn off the video output... There must be some way to pull up the shut down/suspend/reboot options rightHuh? I am just not seeing it.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - Swindiff - 2013-06-26

Under setting for directorybind you need to select alternative database management.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - bluemeane - 2013-06-26

What does that do?

Tested different version of xbmc and every time the same thing, any ideas?

starting xbmc automatically with android has caused some people problems. could this be your problem?

also try making sure you exit xbmc before you turn off the box.

Tested latest Geniatech XBMC V12.2 version which supports video hardware decoding.

Geniatech XBMC 12.2-20130624

video, sound, subs settings can be saved after power off and power on dual core box.

gboi,

how did you find out there was a new xbmc apk from geniatech? is there a twitter/facebook or something?

Can the atv1200 with the latest official firmware (or any other) output real 1080p and not just upscaled 720p ?

Juanjo

Just makes it work...and as it is a non supported fix..
Just take it for granted that it does...
Here's the link on how to do it for our boxes..

That is the latest nightly from Assoror...

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - Leema - 2013-06-27

these nightly builds are the best. Nod

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - thebearnecessit - 2013-06-27

bit confused here.

who's xbmc apk did gboijhpok post a few posts up?

the builds from assoror are the up-to-the-minute (otherwise known as "nightlies" from pivos). the user assoror is posting them on the pivos forums but he is an empolyee of pivos and is basically posting their latest work, before its officially released.

so if the link above (from gboijhpok) is the latest build by pivos/assoror then why is it on the geniatech website?

also if the link above (from gboijhpok) is the latest build by pivos/assoror then why is it dated 24th June when the latest from pivos/assoror on their nightlies thread is from 19th June? as seen here at the top of the 2nd post? http://www.pivosforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2967

music stuttering - also everyone seems to love the pivos nightlies and i think hey are the best to, unless you want to use xbmc for music and you will then realise that it stutters badly. im having to use a different xbmc apk because og the pivos music stutter.

i see nothing about this problem on the pivos forums so is it only when the pivos xbmc apk is used on the atv1200 that it causes a music stutter? if it works fine on pivos boxes then there is no hope of a fix surely.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - bluemeane - 2013-06-27

The "Date" is just the name of the file. It could be "Dated" 2 years in the future if someone wanted it to be lol. I am pretty certain it is the pivos build. It follows the EXACT same naming scheme.
