losing your xbmc settings. seems to be an issue with older atv1200 boxes. i think the ones bought in the last few months dont have this issue.

anyway, try using xbmc menus to exit xbmc before you power off your box. that may help.

also try waiting for 20 seconds after you see the android screen, before you open xbmc. the box needs time to get the sdcard ready.

also, make a copy your entire xbmc folder as a backup. in case it keeps happening. or use the xbmc backup addon. or just cope the guisettings.xml file. that is the one that has your skin customisations and skin layout info in it, and i think that is the only thing that is getting lost.

when it happens to me i just close xbmc and copy my backup guisettings file back into the xbmc folder and open xbmc.

Thank you very much for your help. Also , can you please explain a little bit detail of how to use guisettings.xml? . I used xbmc back up addon. But background picture havent been remained.

Hi all just been using the ATv 1200 and I'm loving it, the only issue I have is some of my old xvid files stutter so will need to use a external player. Can I just ask anyone is the pivos nightly build still the best build to use its from July. Anyone using anything better than that.

Also how quick are the thumbnails loading for people I have mine on a sd card and they seem a little slow

I bought this box following advices on another forum and I have some issues with it, for example it doesn't play AVI XVID files smooth - eg file below is bit choppy, like it's dropping frames - fight scene is the worst, when that guy gets punched in the face:

How is it working for you? And I get this choppiness in built in player and mx player as well :/ and it's not only this file, I checked few files and most of them had same issue :/
MVK with much higher bitrate seems ok.. Any ideas?

I've played tonnes of tv shows which are old divx and xvid avi files and they all play fine.

Yeah but this is 720p

Ok also watched some 720p stuff in avi format. Played fine. MKV is just a container as I understand things anyway.

Are you using DirectoryBind or FolderMount? Just like the network initialising, these also take time to kick in. If you launch XBMC too quickly it looks to the native userdata, not the moved path. If you aren't using either then might be worth a try. Might fix your issue. Folder Mount is better than DB.
As others say, try and exit XBMC first if you can. Tbh mine hardly ever exits XBMC properly and I end up hitting the back button multiple time on subsequent startup to end it and relaunch. And I don't seem to lose any settings. I think it probably writes back everything as it does it rather than on shutdown. Just my guess, I'm sure someone will know for sure.

As an aside my Zotac AD12 (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=146021) comes this week so I'll not be on this thread much going forward. Been a trove of info though so thanks to all who have contributed. I don't think there were any internet arguments at all. Cheers.

Does anyone know how to change the default applications on the Metro User interface. I would like to use ES file explorer instead of file manager. Also is it possible to access the task manager from within Metro?

Someone else has made linux available but only on certain boxes.

It doesn't work on the Mygica ATV1200 so its no use to be but i thought i'd post the link here in case anyone wants to find out if it can be used on their model/box.

I'm not sure if its possible to choose the apps you want on the main screen of the metro launcher. And for that reason i have uninstalled the metro launcher app.

I'm pretty sure i installed in last week, but my brain is a bit fried at the moment so im not 100% sure.

My system info in xbmc says:

XBMC 12.2 Git:10130813-915ea5b (Compiled: Aug 28 2013).

it has the same compiled date as the date on the link on the pivos thread, so ive just realised as im typing this, that yes, i am pretty much 100% sure im using the latest pivos build Big Grin

Its been running great and when i reinstalled all my xbmc addons using the xbmc backup addon, i found that my bbc iplayer addon is fixed as well. so thats a bonus.

but yeah it seems great, im using it on the mygica atv1200 with the latest automatic firmware update.

still can't get android addons onto my xbmc homescreen, but thats a seperate issue.

Hello,

I am new at this great forum, I am the owner of a ATV 1200 and I have observed that after the latest firm update 20130805, when playing video files with XBMC or any other video player the video has continues micro-cuts, it is the same if the video is HD or SD or whatever the bit rate.
I have also downloaded the files and reinstalled the firmware via USB with the same result.

Does anybody else suffer the same problem?

An additional question, after firm update I remove some programs taht i do not use but if a reboot the atv1200 the applications are again installed at start up, is there any way to avoid the app package to auto-reinstall at every reboot?

Best regards and thanks for your help.

That's a shame about the metro app, would be pretty slick if you could customise it slightly

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - no8080 - 2013-09-05

I have the video stuttering error too, I am on the latest firmware and using the builtin XBMC app, never had this issue before, I took a backup of XBMC and uninstalled it. Then installed the latest nightly build, Aug 27th. Installed the XBMC backup app and it does not find my backup.

So I am rebuilding my DB, I will report on how the app goes later.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - no8080 - 2013-09-05

I have been watching a 720p MKV file now for over 1 hour from a SMB share, and not a skip, miss or any issues at all. At the same time XMBC is scanning my movies directory from scratch, which is huge, it takes 4 hours to complete the scan over a 1Gbps network.

So I am happy so far, the latest firmware is stable, add the nightly build of XBMC and it works very well.

For reference, I had the Ethernet drop and the distorted colour issues in previous versions.

RE: Geniatech ATV1200 and XBMC hardware decoding - MusicMan62 - 2013-09-05

I'm new to Android XBMC, just got myself an ATV1200 (Sumvision Cyclone X2). I'm suffering stuttering on all video's, even SD mp4. I have loaded the latest firmware from Geniatech (20130805) and have tried the inbuilt XBMC as well as the latest user build http://www.pivosforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2967.

Am I missing something?, loads of people say they have smooth playback of HD vids but I can't even get SD going properly. How do I know if hardware acceleration is active and working properly?

Also the screen resolution of the Android GUI is appalling, reminds me of the sinclair spectrum days. I have the output set to 1080i (TV doesn't do 1080p) and connected to my TV via HDMI.

My HTPC (running Linux and windows) runs XBMC flawlessly, and the TV plays good quality HD stuff from my YouView box.

Any pointers in the right direction would be most welcome.
