in library view, i get a lockup when navigating to:
- genres -> all genres -> all artists (lock)
- artists -> all artists (lock)
- albums (lock)

i have only about a total of 1200 mp3's and some wma's all on one smb share.

if you can't reproduce, pleasy tell me, and i'll give you the info you need Smile

i have the same problem. i just put a build on from october 9 and then deleted and completely rebuilt my music library. i get the same locks as you mentioned and also locks on going into songs.

i have about 15,000 songs and somewhere in the range of 800 different artists (i have a lot of compilation albums and whatnot).

i'll be more than happy to dump logs or give someone the entire library file if need be.

how about some detailed information on your setup, step-by-step on how to replicate, and a full (0) debug log to start with?

please post your log. your database is rather small and certainly shouldnt lock up. the problem definately sounds related your albums table. are you able to choose an artist and get an album listing? also, have you tried renaming your database, and creating a new?

you're database is just too large so dont enter songs off the root. xbmc just doesnt have enough memory to get the full list of songs out of the sql query and into the directory listing. the upper limit is around 11k songs.

but, it shouldnt lock up. you should've gotten the "no information for this view" error. (atleast, that's what used to happen to me in the past.)

and please confirm that you have the same exact lockups with albums as vnm. post your log regarding this.

built using latest xbmctk, latest addition to the changelog being:

ok there there's some uncaptured exception in the library window. possibly related to the cacheing. the query returned 209 items, and it bombed after caching it to disc.

oh, and that line from the changelong only affects music files view, nothing else.

you've done enough to explain how to reproduce it. you're really doing nothing more than entering albums off the root.

** edit... i've been unable to reproduce any issues with the albums listing, and i've got over 700 albums in my database.

did you remove or rename your database and rescan? if not, please do so. (i recommend just renaming it so you have the old one as a backup.)

also, i never got the "no information for this view" error you refered to while i was looking at the library. one thing that might be relevant is that every single song in my library is on a smb share - maybe smb is the problem? anything else i can provide?

does everything in your library lock up, or just artists? (according to your log, you did not click on albums, you clicked on artists.) and genres->all genres is the same as entering artists.

its definately not smb. my entire music collection is over smb, across four different bookmark locations, and its nearly 10,000 songs.

the "no scanned information" error only comes up when the sql query fails to return anything. in both your cases, the sql query is definately returning data. here's it in your log:

if you get this message, then the sql query definately returned. in fact, it returned 2,614 unique artists, which were converted into window items. xbmc then cached these items to disc for speed.

i'd have to go back and look at the code to see where it caches. but, have you guys changed your cache location in xboxmediacenter.xml?

and i'll ask you to do the same as vnm. please rename your database and rescan. report if the problem persists with a brand new database. also, try to do this test with the latest cvs version.

i just tried and albums works fine. so for me i guess it's just artists that's causing the thing to fail. (and songs but that's because i have so many so no biggie).

i never noticed this until i recently moved everything into a single folder on a single share. so my /mp3 share on the server has this structure:
/mp3
/artist 1
/album 1
/album 2

/album 3

i guess it's worth noting that i have such a large number of entries in the root directory list.
