I understand why you would prefer GbE lan but what is it you want to do that FastE lan won't do?

Launching high bitrate files is a little quicker with GbE. 100 Mbps just isn't much when you're talking about maybe 80-85 Mbps after overhead. GbE lets you fill the buffer up in no time in comparison.

You got the point.

Also I do love to have real fast transfers between my devices. [60 MB/s or up.] I am planning to buy 2 Brix [ IF the Celeron versions have GbE and USB 3.0], one for storage [+ 2x 4HDD case w/ usb3] and other to replace my RasPi [He does the job, but doesnt have storage].

Totally agree!
I try not to get too excited about these new products after Microsoft's debacle with Surface.
I have yet to see someone with a Microsoft Surface AND for good reason,......too much $$$$$$$$.

If this Brix doesn't sell for a competitive price (meaning ~$100-$200), but instead sells it for 5X that amount,...it'll be a dud.

RE: Gigabyte Brix looks like a winner - churchwa - 2013-04-29

Anyone seen any prices or release dates for this yet?

RE: Gigabyte Brix looks like a winner - churchwa - 2013-04-30

Just been told by gigabyte that they are launching them in June. Hmmm, might just get the nuc in that case.

Not that long to wait though now though really. Did they give any indication of pricing?

Very unlikely don't you think. The Core i3-3227U one of the 4 cpu's used in the Brix alone costs 225 $ Tongue

And Gigabyte will not sell with a loss, no company would. Prices will probably be in the neighborhood of the Intel NUC or even a bit higher.

The only thing the specs say are different from the three versions seems to be the CPU. Also all the mention for GPU is " Intel Graphics". Hopefully they release more info on the GPU...

RE: Gigabyte Brix looks like a winner - touser - 2013-05-13

Seems a little dumb to release this now with haswell just around the corner.

Haswell is more than one CPU SKU, and if history is anything to go by they won't all launch at the same time. How far away are the Haswell equivalents of the mobile parts used in these units? It could be many months.
