I can confirm that with XBMC 13alpha4 this issue is atleast partially fixed. XBMC doesn't stop video playback anymore on the audio switch, but there are now noticeable artifacts and atleast 10s of video is skipped instead.

I agree! To get Gotham Alpha4 this on the Pi, substitute the "-Frodo" bit with "-master" in the instructions linked to earlier (and be aware that it is alpha sw)
