How to enable Milkdrop/projectm visualization? - dmd350 - 2013-05-02

I'm not really sure what it takes to get Milkdrop or Project M to work in XBMC/Frodo, so I took some shots in the dark and got the visualization scripts for them off github and stuck them into the userdata folder, but I'm still getting only the waveform and 3D spectrum visualizations in Settings. Can't use the milkdrop app, since XBMC won't run in the background yet. Does anyone know what's needed and where to put it?

Milkdrop/ProjectM are not available for ARM architecture in XBMC.

What about for the Raspberry PI?

OK, I was afraid of that. Are you saying that a recompile and build of XBMC can't be done in order to include access to Milkdrop/ProjectM? And, if so, are there any other visualizations for the Raspberry PI (and other Android devices) that can be used to give a bit more variety?

RE: How to enable Milkdrop/projectm visualization? - Memphiz - 2014-03-24

Yes that is what we are saying. No there are no others but the included ones.

Checkout these two other forum threads http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=138602 and http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=166261 for more information on porting ProjectM

You can find a an updated port of ProjectM 2.0.0 visualizer for XBMC here https://github.com/notspiff/visualization.projectm while upstream been bumped to version 2.1.0 since long, and their Git have newer updates than that

Noting that someone willing would of course still have update it for mainline and then port the XBMC visualization to OpenGL ES support and make it compile for ARM in order to get it working on Raspberry Pi, iOS such as Apple TV 2 and iPad, and Android

Again regarding that note that latest upstream code in the Git for ProjectM have already been ported to ARM and OpenGL ES 2.0 for iOS and Android, see http://projectm.sourceforge.net

Taking into consideration that ProjectM has been already ported to ARM (as Hedda says), when can we expect to see that in Android/iOS builds of XBMC? Wink

RE: How to enable Milkdrop/projectm visualization? - davilla - 2014-03-29

when Hedda ports it and submits a PR.
