RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - fritsch - 2014-11-20 Last try to fix it failed: [21891.270412] [drm] GPU HANG: ecode 0:0x87d3bffa, in kodi.bin [862], reason: Ring hung, action: reset :-( After several hours of video playback RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - crucky - 2014-11-20 so fritsch if it was the last try then it means bug will be there for ever ? If thats the case i need to buy an external graphicscard and cant use the igpu for playback thanks a lot intel RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - robo989 - 2014-11-20 (2014-11-20, 11:45)crucky Wrote: so fritsch if it was the last try then it means bug will be there for ever ? If thats the case i need to buy an external graphicscard and cant use the igpu for playback thanks a lot intel I think he means the last try, as in the attempt that was last made. - Not - the last try that will ever be made RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - fritsch - 2014-11-20 I indeed meant: "latest" - new tries will follow. I can provide kernel images that have it already fixed (but they introduce sever other issues ;-)) Try those (lightdm won't start, but my xbmc upstart script will): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/linux-image-3.18.0-rc5-icklemasterv1%2B_3.18.0-rc5-icklemasterv1%2B-10.00.Custom_amd64.deb https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55728161/linux-headers-3.18.0-rc5-icklemasterv1%2B_3.18.0-rc5-icklemasterv1%2B-10.00.Custom_amd64.deb RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - crucky - 2014-11-20 Will try it when i get back home from work ! will report ! Hope is back again thanks so much fritsch ! cant say it enough ! Update: It seems to work normaly i would get the gpuhang after 10 minutes of watching live hd tv with VAAPI-MCDI.Watched About an hour and it seems to work just fine. CPU usage at 2% on one core changing lets try some more hours or days awesome thanks a lot fritsch and chris wilson do you have a personal donate link for me fritsch ? wanna do kodi and you something good ^^ may i ask you again fritsch what are the several other issues the kernel may bring in ? didnt notice we are already at 3.18 kernels ^^ RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - crucky - 2014-11-22 i was too fast got a gpuhang yesterday evening you want logs fritsch ? or not needed ? RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - fritsch - 2014-11-22 No, thx. Non needed. RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - charliebrown - 2014-11-23 Fritsch thx for your hard work on this, i know we are alot of people hoping for a fix. Is it possible that kodi will have this issue resolved? For openelec that is. RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - fritsch - 2014-11-23 No. It's not a kodi issue at all, it has nothing to do with kodi. It's a kernel bug, the intel people are working on. RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - charliebrown - 2014-11-23 oh, i see. Seeing you got some insight, is there any light in the end of the tunnel or is it a maybe it will be fixed kind of thing? RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - fritsch - 2014-11-23 Why not just read the bugreport and subscribe to it: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83677 Currently there is a kernel that is running fine, but it has 10K lines of code different to 3.18-rc5, the dev is still looking to find the "right bits" so that we can get them onto a stable kernel. As you might think, this is absolutely non trivial task. As the intel dev invested all the past 10 days fulltime on that issue - I am not very confident for a short term solution. RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - charliebrown - 2014-11-23 thx for the link. Im not that tech savy, ( this is way above my knowledge ) altough it´s "fun" to read and maybe learn something along the way, its nice to have it explained in "human" terms =) Nice to see the intel dev really pushing to resolve this, with the help from alot of other guys in what i could read out from the thread. i´ll keep checking the thread, and checking in here. thx for the answer. RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - menno - 2014-11-26 Fritsch, if you have an openelec available based on your back ported patch please let me know, I would love to test for you! RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - fritsch - 2014-11-26 No I don't. I won't "backport" 10 thousand lines of code and introduce other issues. Hugh Greenberg has done the work, you can build yourself and include his patch in the linux package. RE: vaapi-sse4: Deinterlacing Testing - stuCONNERS - 2014-11-26 Is this fixed then? Can anyone confirm? |
