Whats going on?? while I appreciate you making skins, why are you remaking my skins and re-releasing them?

Concast, Default... "skin formerly known as "Default." when did I change the name?
Sranshaft isn't even the original creator of this skin... its thedarkonaut and tman12.

Please leave my skins to me Smile and you work on your own skins?.. or the many... many original pseudotv skins out there, that can be updated to work with PseudoTV Live?

I removed Concast from PTVL, because you updated it...( I will add those to a new custom skin downloader i'm working on) but I have no plans to do the same with Default and PTVL...
So please respect those skins, it's important to have a base that is maintained by me, since any changes I make to code need to be reflected in the skin Smile

Hope you understand, keep up the great work...
BTW any updates you want to make to Default and PTVL can be pushed directly to my github page, but rereleasing will only cause confusions and duplicate skins floating around.

I dunno man, every single skin that came with my copy of PTVL is broken since around V.0.5.7 minus the skin in the PTVL folder . The author of the skin in the "Default" folder says Sranshaft so I dunno what to tell you. Check your own git. I only updated it because its broken and doesn't look like its been updated in ages .

I figured getting this message to go away was the goal PseudoTV Live temporarily locked to PTVL Skin, all other skins are disabled

I wasn't trying to step on toes or disrespect anyone. I always check the licenses, credits etc out of respect. I was just ripping through the skins updating them to help the base package along. I totally understand where you are coming from with the base code and I figured the PTVL skin was "that" skin. Put your name on stuff when you publish to to a public git and you'll generally get the credit and citations you deserve Smile I'll gladly fork PTVL and send a push, like I said I was just trying to help out... end of the day it's not even a big deal. At worst I wasted a little over an hour.

Code:
<skin>
<defaultresolution>720p</defaultresolution>
<defaultresolutionwide>720p</defaultresolutionwide>
<version>2.0</version>
<!-- amount to zoom skin to remove overscan compensation -->
<zoom>0</zoom>

Don't know how you want me to respond... I do appreciate the help. I agree that concast was outdated, its features original textures created by me... based of redkillers first skin.
The PTVL skin also is an original skin I made... but thats besides the point... not looking for credit. The default skin was reworked from the skin found here http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=157452&pid=1364218#pid1364218 which you improperly credit to someone else... again no biggie, just pointing it out.

All of this doesn't matter to me, what matters is that you respect the default and ptvl skins, if you want to help update... you can push to my git, but please don't re release...
You have to agree that duplicates of the same skin aren't needed... and its important that we keep a base "foundation" of skins "Default and PTVL" that I maintain...
after all, you use my skins as a base for your skins.... kinda dependent on me creating new labels and leaving comments so you know what they are...

PseudoTV Live isn't even out of beta yet, at any time I can make a change that will break all skins... understand I'm just being proactive to avoid confusion down the road, I still get users who install the original pseudotv then complain to me when they can't get new features working...

Spend a day in my shoes and you would understand why i'm sensitive about these types of things....

So lets leave it as the default and ptvl skins will be left alone, you can help update if you want... but all comments have to be respected and left in... when this build is final the two skins (default, ptvl) will be left as guides for other skinners....

Like we discussed before, I'm building a custom skin downloader where users can preview and download custom skins...

There are tons of old pseudotv skins that for someone of your talent would take no time to bring up to date if you would like.. https://github.com/Lunatixz/script.pseudotv.live/tree/master/resources/skins/Original

BTW I think its great you are bumping up the resolution to 1080, but I need to keep the default resolution for PseudoTV Live skins @ 720p... Most devices that run Kodi can't handle the texture sizes needed for 1080p.

Hey don't even worry about it. It's just one of those things that happened and I'm sure you see that my intention was to help a brother out. I know you have plenty of other things going on and I figured I'd roll up my selves and bang a few of the skins that came with PTVL out fast. I don't know the history or the attachment you have to those skins, I just work with code. Believe it or not, that was the last one I was planning on touching for the exact reasons you mentioned. We're on the same page as far as duplicate releases. There is no good reason to do that. I kind of figured you might grab them and add them to your master and anyone else that couldn't stand waiting could help themselves out in the meantime. I don't see a hell of a lot of merges on your git so I sort of assumed you weren't interested in having more than one set of hands on the code. I sent a pull request on your Dev branch and took down my repo FYI.

Again I totally understand you needing a skin or two that you're 100% familiar so you can make changes to PTVL and test the skin without having to hunt around in touched code. And while I have no problem reading python, I'm not going to pretend its not a hell of a lot faster to run a diff on your changes and bring myself up to speed that way.

Anyhow, no harm, no foul. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that a lot of us out here really appreciate all the hard work you put in.

LOL, I'd actually love help with the code... I've had contributions in the past... but my github management isn't the best... many times contributions are made to old code, so I manually add new requests to avoid conflict... It's not a matter of sensitivity or ownership of the code, thats not the point i'm trying to make...having two identical skins with two different names and sources can create confusion... simple as that!

I reviewed your push, like I mentioned before... I can't lock myself into worrying about skinning right now. I have big things planned for the PseudoTV Live interface and i'm not afraid to mix things up, meaning skins can break between builds... I try to keep things safe, but in recent pushes i'm between changes in code... The new PVR features coming soon will feature a lot of new overlays...

I'm curious about how PVR functionality is going to work with PTVL since the channels are pulled from so many different channels. Will it be limited to livetv channel types or will it be possible to PVR programs from internet tv streams, youtube streams, plugin streams, etc. The latter seems like a difficult thing to achieve, but I've been amazed by this program in the past.

each chtype handles differently:

record functions:

pvr = backend download
hdhomerun, rtmp, strm or any stream feed = rtmp dump, or direct file download
youtube = flv download
local files = queue sickbeard/couchpotato options

Luna,

The latest version works great with the artwork stored on nas.

I guess the next feature that I would really look forward to is true background updating. I mean as a service, on a schedule, even when ptvl is not running.

Some other addons do this like the tv guide addon or the xbmc updater. You set the schedule like every 8 hours and it runs in the background. If the device was off, at the next restart it checks when it ran last, and if it's past the next run time, it runs right away.

Given that a channel reset causes a 10 min wait time where most channels are missing as they build one by one, I'd love to run a nightly reset so I never have to wait during the day.

Will it be limited to livetv channel types or will it be possible to PVR programs from internet tv streams, youtube streams, plugin streams, etc. The latter seems like a difficult thing to achieve, but I've been amazed by this program in the past.

each chtype handles differently:

record functions:

pvr = backend download
hdhomerun, rtmp, strm or any stream feed = rtmp dump, or direct file download
youtube = flv download
local files = queue sickbeard/couchpotato options

Luna, are there any plans to pass LiveTV EIT EPG data from the PVR back-end to PTVL? Us aussies dont have any XML guide sources, so this is the only way for us.

Thanks!

You can set PTVL to update once every 12 or 24 hours or whatever works around your schedule so you aren't waiting around at the exact same 10 min its doing it's thing. I think this all boils down to better planning. Figure out when you are sitting in front of the TV most of the time and make sure you're set up to have the updates happen when you aren't around Smile Works for me.

Wait, but do you have to have ptvl running all the time for that?
