What is the suspend issue exactly? Suspend works here it seems?

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Haswell Late 2013 edition) - micoba - 2013-12-16

Standby either crashes Openelec (Nightlies) or just restarts the nuc after some seconds being off (stable release).

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Haswell Late 2013 edition) - gamble - 2013-12-16

Yep, if i try to suspend it freezes while "working.."

Just a heads up that I ran into an issue with the r16530 nightly. I use the "Wait for network to start before booting" setting in OE, and with this nightly applied it never gets past that OE splashscreen waiting for the network (keeps showing the "will wait a maximum of 10 seconds" message over and over again).

I know they are nightlies and not expected to be bugfree, but wanted to let others know in case they get into the same spot.

Been really happy with my i5 since I switched to Windows 8. No problems, and in addition to running xbmc at lightning speed, I'm also able to launch Steam in big picture mode out of xbmc and run a bunch of pretty high-ish end games like GTA IV, Bioshock Infinite, Portal, etc. What an awesome little machine Smile.

I'm having issues playing several of the movies I've ripped and compressed. TV shows are no issue but movies stop after only a few seconds. It acts like the stream isn't being fed to the player but I know the backend is solid. On my older ION machines it plays but the sound has a hell of a problem feeding to the receiver and the video slows to a crawl. Weird part is mediainfo tells me the video is AC3 and even my ION hardware should have no problem with it - it's updated nightly so code may be an issue there.

I updated the NUC I've got online running OpenElec to r16559 with no change. The video begins to play, I hear some sound, then the directory where I played the video from returns to the front but I have no remote control capability and have to reboot. The last part of the log indicates that the audio is timing out near as I can tell - it also looks like it's calling for 2 channel audio when I know this is 5.1 - weird.

Is anyone else seeing this? I figured the ION was somehow being overwhelmed and that the NUC would have no problems but sadly the NUC plays the video even worse. I've now tried a few videos with similar results so am really confused! VLC plays everything flawlessly...

That's interesting. Where did you read this?

Some place in this thread...

Oh well. Tried a HDMI C to HDMI A cable yesterday, and still..."no signal detected". Seems like DisplayPort is my last option, before I call the NUC a dud... I find it highly dissapointing that this device does not work with a standard mini-HDMI adapter, or even a mini-to-full HDMI cable.

Is it possible to flash the BIOS from a USB stick without the display working? Some automated process...?

:edit: Never mind about the BIOS, found out about the BIOS recovery jumper. Smile

@Settepotet: Did you flash your NUC without Video Output? If so, how did you do it?
My NUC won't show Video after flashing the BIOS from within Windows, and so far I had no Luck flashing it, with Recovery Jumper removed, etc...
I opened a Support Ticket with Intel on Thursday but have not heard back from them so far.

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Haswell Late 2013 edition) - n3mur1t0r - 2013-12-17

I have an issue with my i3 Haswell that I don't think has been discussed.

I have OpenELEC installed (stable 3.2.4) and whenever i shut it down either via the physical power button, via ssh with poweroff, via the android remote or using a mouse it restarts instead of shutting down.

Now if I use a keyboard, it shuts down.

Has anybody else experienced this? What would a possible solution be?

I'm at work now, so have not tried it.

As far as i understand it's as simple as set the jumper to configuration mode, insert a USB stick with the *.bio file and boot it up. And then wait for 10 mins. It should take 3-4 minutes, but since we don't se the screen I'l give it 10 minutes. If it requires some key presses I guess some good soul on this site would provide with the correct info...? Smile I will first try the Mini DP, but if that don't work a bios update is my last resort.

I'm positive that the NUC works fine, since it boots up normally. No flashing leds, and USB devices light up too. But the HDMI is the issue, I hope.

I was looking so much forward to this unit, so it bugs me that it won't work. Sad So much for being an early consumer.

This was discussed several times in this thread!

Use Windows for the moment or wait until Intel fixes this issue.

I'd consider returning yours. If you have tried multiple HDMI adapters/cables and it doesn't work then it sounds faulty.

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Haswell Late 2013 edition) - Settepotet - 2013-12-17

I don't know if it could be a RAM issue? But sounds wierd, since faulty RAM should after all produce picture and/or led signals which indicate som problems...

If DP port works I'll probably keep it, but if not I will return it.

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Haswell Late 2013 edition) - ascl_ - 2013-12-17

I really don't see how it could be a RAM issue, if this is a concern tho, you should run http://www.memtest.org/

RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Haswell Late 2013 edition) - Settepotet - 2013-12-17

To run memtest I need a working display output Wink
