MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - Preacher - 2013-12-28 Hi, guys/gals. First up, hope you had a merry Christmas/happy holidays, hope the fat man in red (or the old codger in green, depending upon the value of $LOCALE) filled your stocking with desired goodness that showed our appreciation of all your hard work. Okay, onto my issue: as the title suggests, I can play MKVs fine but attempting to play AVIs cause XBMC to crash, requiring a restart over ssh. Crash Log Here xbmc.log here (are they sufficient? I read the FAQ and most required OS info appears to have been captured in the crash log) Quick potted history, in case any of the details here may be of relevance:
Guessing it could be a codec or some library I'm missing. "mediainfo" about the file shows: Code: General Since I can switch back to my older 32-bit install (I've used separate SSDs) I'm in no rush to get it sorted. So if I get no quick reply, I'll know you're all kicking back, popping open a can or bottle and enjoying the holidays. I don't blame you - you deserve it! Cheers, people - and have a great new year! RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - fritsch - 2013-12-28 add to your ~/.xbmc/userdata/advancedsettings.xml Code: <advancedsettings> I wonder, cause it should be disabled by default. I will save myself a comment about your alsa sound config :-) RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - Preacher - 2013-12-28 Okay, added those lines in, so my advancedsettings.xml now reads: Code: <advancedsettings> Thanks for the speed reply. RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - fritsch - 2013-12-28 Does it work? RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - FernetMenta - 2013-12-28 please upgrade, a 3 months old alpha is not good for further investigation RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - Preacher - 2013-12-28 It isn't? Damn, I didn't realise - I pulled it down from here, just presumed it was pulling down latest release. I'll give that a go then report back. Okay... Code: apt-get install xbmc There an upgrade FAQ? I can only see an install one on the wiki. RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - FernetMenta - 2013-12-28 Quote:Using Release XBMC x64 build, compiled Oct 2 2013 by GCC 4.7.3 for x86 Linux 64-bit 3.8.13 RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - FernetMenta - 2013-12-28 Looks like you run the abandoned xvba version https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/xbmc-xvba RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - fritsch - 2013-12-28 @Preacher: How to update. Code: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:wsnipex/xbmc-fernetmenta-master Btw. you are currently talking to your the creator of that specific version! RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - Preacher - 2013-12-28 You can't see me at the moment Fritsch, but rest assured I'm on bended knees with my head bowed in awe, offering a (opened) beer can to the heavens above, crying "WE'RE NOT WORTHY!" The cats wonder what the hell is going on. However, the missus has been reassured I need to pay homage for the Gods Of XBMC to bestow this family with media player goodness, else she doesn't get to view her favourite episodes tonight, so she's all good. Aaannndddd... we're installed. Aaaaaannnndddd.... IT LIVES! IT PLAYS AVIs! Missus is pleased! Cats are still bemused, mind. fritsch / FernetMenta - thanks greatly for all your help! RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - FernetMenta - 2013-12-28 your nick was well chosen RE: MKV plays fine, AVI causes a crash - fritsch - 2013-12-28 Lol - set that thread to solved ...
