which are completely differant devices failing
in completely differant ways.

the landrive will be abit different.. as it just cuts off, throwing an exception leaving no good log.... will check with some samba devs thou.
btw plugh, it wasn't you i asked to try an xbe right? if not then maybe i could send you an xbe that you could try on that argsys drive?

btw, did the pcap show any more than the log file?

there is no diff in the request from the working and the nonworking, so nothing can be gained from it by comparison. however the pcap would show if the returned data is formed in an odd way wich was handled in older samba but not in newer. nothing i can tell thou.

he was waiting for update from other devs. it's marked release critical so till will be fixed before samba 23 goes live (they are close to it so i'm sure they'll fix it)

looks like the proposed fix does address the interoperability issue with the linksys wrtsl54gs. (thanks elupus and the samba devo's!)
that leaves the interoperability issue with the nas lan drives, which appears to be a much more difficult nut to crack.
personally, i'm seriously considering retiring my lan drive and serving all my files from the linksys.
