When using the Samsung of a friend all works perfekt.

What Philips TV are you using?

I called Gigabyte. They said that the motherboard has a failure.
I have to send it back and I will get a new one.
This failure a matter of common knowledge. Some TVs don't
get a signal.

Thanks for your Help!

This bios is the F3 version and it corrects the HDMI problem (you will need to go to advanced settings in the bios and select CSM Support: Enabled and Video: Legacy to get it to work flawlessly).

The problem with booting legacy operating systems (such as a USB stick with OpenElec) also seems to be gone with this bios release (as long as CSM support is enabled and Legacy is selected for storage and boot option).
Run in to some problems with HDMI as well, HDMI is working on my monitor but unfortunately not on my TV Sad

How did you flash the BIOS? The @BIOS utility of gigabyte is not installing correctly on my system... Is it possible to use the AMI flash utility?

I get the feeling that monitors detected not well. My computer told me with the old kernel Ubuntu, that my monitor of 24' was a monitor of 57'.

=> Me Too, My TV is LG 42LB5DR and Max Resolution is WXGA (1360x768). Maybe Gigabyte BIOS block this resolution ? Sad

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - Aquarius - 2014-04-22

Gigabyte J1800N-D2H installed last week,
Finally got around to installing and testing various XBMC versions this week-end
- On Linux Mint debian edition (March 2014) there were various crashes with any Gotham alphas/betas. Either from ppa repositories or by compiling from source (segfault when using the \ shortcut to go fullscreen, segfault with the media scrapper). This is all probably related to wrong library versions, but it also can be a result of the intel / mesa bugs I saw reports off for Ivy Bridge GPUs.
- Finaly tested Ubuntu 14.04 and I'm very pleased with the result. Gotham beta 4 from the unstable PPA works well, CPU usage is low when using VAAPI and even without it, 720p content is fluid. (my TV is 720p only so I don't much care for 1080p currently). I will probably switch to Mint Cinnamon when it's available.

Anyway, the hardware works well. Onboard sound is a load of crap but that was to be expected (my Hifi DAC/pre-amp died last week, so I had to be creative). Only 5 USB ports might be an issue for some but that's ok for me currently. I haven't tested fancy addons or skins so I can't debate the performance of the UI under load.

Next: SteamOS (but that's out of topic here Smile )

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - fritsch - 2014-04-22

My tests with Asus J1800:

What works fine:
- 1080p60, 1080p50, 3840x1800, 1080p24 (the first two only without swfilter, 50p or 60p are too much for the baytrail when running this SSE4.2 code) -> swfilter not available in xbmc mainline
- Dts-hd, truehd, lpcm 7.1
- 1080i50 with SWfilter + Bob Deinterlacer
- 576i50 with SWFilter + Yadif Deinterlacer
- H265 in Software (big bug bunny runs with both cores at max) -> not available in xbmc mainline.

What does not work
- 1080i50 with SWFilter + Yadif Deinterlacer -> too slow max 36fps
- Every upscaling algorithm other than Bilinear is too much for that GPU. This sucks completely. They chose a HD4000 gpu and only shipped 1/4th of the EUs.

The 2x 2.41 ghz are quite fast - I like the speed of xbmc menus.

I think you can plain forget it for gaming, cause of the GPU. The only good in it is the VAAPI decoder.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - noggin - 2014-04-22

fritsch - I guess the Haswell Celerons like the 2955U are probably still the base spec Intel chips for 1080i YADIF 2x s/w deinterlacing ?

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - fritsch - 2014-04-22

Ouh yes :-) they are.

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - -DDD- - 2014-04-22

Maybe the Quad J1900 would make Yadif with 1080i50?
http://geizhals.de/asrock-q1900b-itx-90-mxgtr0-a0uayz-a1089506.html

Or is the OSS Radeon Driver with Athlon 5350 the better Choice, compared to BayTrail?

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - fritsch - 2014-04-22

Not sure about both. The big limit all AMD be it oss or via the blob xvba have is, that they are limited to 2048x1152 for now. I implemented 4K support in kernel some time ago - but the speed on the Kabini I had at this time was at 4 fps :-) So also not nice.

Build me a Celeron 2955U in mini itx format and I will buy it :-)

RE: Bay Trail-D motherboards - -DDD- - 2014-04-22

I only have this offer with your CPU Wink
