Browser on XBMC? - ToddeSwe - 2014-02-06

Hi!

Is it possible to browse the web with xbmc?

Is so, how?

no

RE: Browser on XBMC? - ToddeSwe - 2014-02-08

Why is that?

We haven't incorporated a web browser. It's always been on the list of things to do, but no one has stepped up yet.

So it's possible then. Nice to hear. Then I'll be waiting. [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

It was a Google Summer of Code proposed project a while back but didn't materialize into anything unfortunately.

I always wanted to show Last.fm chart data in XBMC but I guess an add-on would work just as well.

There is an addon that launches chrome: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=170965 which might be a solution for your use-case.

RE: Browser on XBMC? - da-anda - 2014-02-12

for windows there are AFAIK some addons out in the wild that embedd Firefox or IE. Think I read about it on some german XBMC site. It's basically the leftover from their Netflix/Maxdome/Lovefilm web wrapper to have silverlight within XBMC which they turned into a standalone browser.
