RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - xbs08 - 2014-05-28 What happens if you poweroff from the XBMC UI? Re: RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - grimfandango - 2014-05-28 (2014-05-28, 20:49)xbs08 Wrote: What happens if you poweroff from the XBMC UI? It shuts down fine from the ui. I was going to disable wol in the BIOS but it turns out the BIOS does not show on my TV, only the f10 boot menu shows up. So I will have to wait til tomorrow to try it. RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - jammyb - 2014-05-28 I've never had power on/off problems with harmony remotes set as MCE remotes. Should just work! RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - grimfandango - 2014-05-28 Most of my problems end up being operator error. I am sure I read somewhere regarding wol and power on/off issues. I will have a quick look around again. RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - xbs08 - 2014-05-28 I can wake the nuc with my smartphone and never had that issue with either remote. I keep running into issues with dependencies that I just can;t fix. I've tried various solutions posted on the Ubuntu forums and askubuntu, without sucess. The error I get is: Think you have to try steam forum this forum just handles xbmc RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - schmickers - 2014-05-30 Welp, I posted here because the solutions posted on the Steam forums don't work and I wondered if it might be related to the wsnipex/mesa PPA that was recommended earlier in the thread. But it's okay, I've PMed wsnipex about it directly. RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - lomenak - 2014-05-30 Is this RAM going to be compatible? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148679 RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - RideLikeTheWind - 2014-05-30 (2014-05-30, 04:11)lomenak Wrote: Is this RAM going to be compatible? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148679 lomenak I think that should be OK, it's 204 pin and 1.35v which I believe are the main points to look for. Check the intel for website for guidance: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dk-dn2820fyk/sb/CS-034588.htm The full speed of that memory will not be used by the 2820 as it'll only run up to 1066 Mhz. I think I remember reading somewhere that double sided ram had issues with getting too hot or causing too much heat when placed next to another component in the box. It was a while ago so maybe it was an isolated incident but input from others would help clarify who use double sided ram. Finally 8GB seems alot, if you're just running XBMC I'd have thought 4GB would be more than enough? RLTW RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - xbs08 - 2014-05-30 Double sided isn't much of a problem because the DN2820 has one slot only. For OE even 2GB is enough. I have 4GB and never seen the NUC use more than a 1GB of RAM including the 512MB for GPU. Just been playing around with this again. It is the i3 that shuts down from the xbmc ui, the 2820 restarts from the ui and the remote. It was on the OE forums where I read that disabling wol would work round the issue but I had no such luck. Using: openelec 4.0.3 i386 generic build BIOS 34 harmony 300i remote setup as Microsoft windows media centre. Could it be the i386 build? RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - xbs08 - 2014-05-30 Could be... But why use i386 in the first place on the NUC DN2820? RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - grimfandango - 2014-05-30 Just to try it out given that I only had 2gb ram and issues with openelec 4 on all BIOS pre 34. But I will switch back to 64 bit RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - xbs08 - 2014-05-30 I think you can backup your current files using the build in OE addon, move it somewhere else, and restore it on the new x64 build, not sure though. RE: Intel NUC - HTPC (Bay Trail 2013 edition - DN2820FYKH) - grimfandango - 2014-05-30 I have installed the x64 version as a fresh install. Prior to this I have updated and it works I was going to re import my userdata and addons folders but as they are a copy of what I just wiped out I guess the problem will reoccur? I will give it a go anyway to see what happens. |
