RE: [Project] Return of the Dual Audio Output support (Isengard/Helix/Gotham/Frodo) - Steini - 2016-02-03

I recently bought a Harman Kardon 171s receiver and it can only output analog audio to Zone 2.

I just want to output the same audio to both zones for parties and this looked like the perfect solution.

It seems to be working fine for mp3 and flac audio but goes terribly out of sync when playing concerts in DTS. Since this patch starts a second instance of the audio engine I guess there is no way to sync the two streams?

Other things I have tried are HDMI to RCA converters but they only work for stereo. Running all the speakers in 7.1 and using 7 channel stereo, which works fine, but turning zone 2 off and manage the levels becomes a headache. The last thing I tried was to use the headphones out of my Samsung series 5 TV for analog, but as soon as the receiver is turned on all audio on the TV is disabled.

I realize that there is a way to do this with pulseaudio, but not if I want to use DTS/DD passtrough Sad

I wanted to ask you guys If you see any better way of setting this up and if it was just a coincidence that my mp3/flac music was in sync and I will not be able to reproduce it consistently?

Thanks Smile

First of all I´d like to say thanks for this solution ´cause I was looking exactly for something like this.

A month ago I bougt a Intel NUC5PPYH and I use openelec 6.0.1 so before I will install this build I want to be shure nothing bad gonna happen so 2 questions:

1. so like I understand this is only a build/patch so when I download the right one for my system and putting into my update folder, so the update can be ready after a reboot, nothing bad gonna happend to my original openelec installed system like all my seetings are gone then? I really don´t like to beginning from the scratch again.

2. Would be this the right build for me OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64.DA-6.0.1.tar ?

That's great - do you have an updated patch file for Jarvis?
If so, could you share it and i will try to find time to do some Ubuntu builds.

I've been working on an updated patch myself but still have got a way to go as I'm very short of time.

Is there any plans to get this integrated into the main build?

No, but just download the lastest patch for 15.2 and look which files have been altered for Jarvis.
Maybe it is not too hard to adjust it for Kodi 16.

No, not this patch. There are several discussions about it earlier that thread.

It should - but better do a backup.

Yes, this is the right file for your system.

I tried and it works perfectly, my wife is happy now cause she can here over the TV speakers again cause she don´t like it to turn always the Receiver on when watching a TV series at midnight.

Is there a way to getting update information via Kodi from this patch like I´m getting infos about official updates?

Yes, have a look at the Unofficial OpenELEC Dev Update Plugin.

I checked the file and decompressed it. It seems okay to me (yet I haven't an imx6-based system to test).

Here are the file sizes and md5 hashes for the tar itself and the two main files inside:

Code:
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root      4096 Feb 11 08:11 .
drwxrwxrwt 6 root root      4096 Feb 11 08:11 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   5829952 Jan 31 13:17 KERNEL
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root root        48 Jan 31 13:17 KERNEL.md5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 129761280 Feb 11 08:04 OpenELEC-imx6.arm.DA-6.0.1.tar
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root        65 Feb 11 08:11 OpenELEC-imx6.arm.DA-6.0.1.tar.md5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 122585088 Jan 31 13:17 SYSTEM
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root root        48 Jan 31 13:17 SYSTEM.md5
root@leela:/tmp/imx6-test# cat *md5
bcd04d9d83d1d525eb2dda6c47e9dedf  target/KERNEL
0069ae164c650e73f468aa3d1c8eec8c  OpenELEC-imx6.arm.DA-6.0.1.tar
2cfdd91383a0bbd79cf78987b7226eff  target/SYSTEM
root@leela:/tmp/imx6-test#

The md5 sums of KERNEL and SYSTEM match, so maybe do another test by extracting those two and replace them manually Undecided

____
Update: Maybe your memory got corrupted? (possible if you use a CF/SD card or an USB stick)

You mean replacing KERNEL and SYSTEM manually by SSH/Putty is enough?
The MD5's on my Cubox seems OK. During installation it is a bit difficult to see what happens because the first few characters are behind my visual area of the TV-screen. This is visible:
ge/.update/KERNEL: OK
ng SYSTEM.md5...
ge/.update/SYSTEM: OK
ng size: FAILED
heck failed. normal startup in 30s...

What size could be wrong?

RE: [Project] Return of the Dual Audio Output support (Isengard/Helix/Gotham/Frodo) - DarkAngel2401 - 2016-02-14

Now it's clear - the downloaded file is okay, but your system partition seems too small for the newest version, which is slightly bigger than 6.0.0.

RE: [Project] Return of the Dual Audio Output support (Isengard/Helix/Gotham/Frodo) - RuudM - 2016-02-15

Correct! Thx! It seems that the default partitionsize of OpenElec was 128 Mb, since v6.01 it is 512 Mb. Also see this link, 'Boot partition size for new installations has been increased to 512MB'. To increase the system partition size was quite a job. I didn't manage to do this with GParted. Decreased and moved storage-partition but after that I couldn't delete the empty space to make room for the systempartition. So I did a fresh install of the default image OpenElec 6.01 with WinDiskImager and installed the Dual Audio version afterwards.

Any news on this for Jarvis?

Are there builds planed?
