Thanks Darren, that is what I expected...

I just wanted to make sure it kept my settings - even though I will make a backup I could see where it would be a pain to get everything connected and working again.

Need some assistance / guidance on audio. I just bought an Asus Chromebox, followed the steps outline on the Page 1, created a stand alone OE...and frankly everything works. everything that is but the audio.....its brittle and scarcthy. Just cant seem to figure it out. Any one else have similar issues...if so how did you guys fix it.

Thanks

First I've heard of that issue on a ChromeBox. HDMI audio? connected to what AVR or TV? playing what format/sample rate audio? In what container?

Matt, thanks for writing back. Here is the info you requested,
1. HDMI connected from Chromebox to TV, I dont have an AVR
2. Audio Output: HDA Intel, SYN 532-B12 on HDMI #0
3. Format (obtained by hitting O): aac, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp
4. As for container is prevelant in all mks, mp4 etc. the only one I see a slightly better quality is .avi

Is there anything else that I can share with you. I really like my ChromeBox - its super fast...but I am trying to determine if the audio issue is surmountable or not

Also to note:
1. This is an old Olevia TV - trying to see if the issue is replicated on newer TV
2. Just ordered a replacement HDMI cable to rule out if it is a cable issue (although this TV and cable worked fine with my old ATV1 and OE setup)

The best way to describe the sound issue is that it sounds cartoonish...

Thanks

With the stick done a quick install and all is fine, but as soon as I put in the advancedsettings with mysql details it starts with the endless loop. I have already added the 10sec delay for network but that made no difference.

it's getting stranger, if I remove the network cable during this loop the kodi interface loads fine. Once I am connected with putty I can ping mysql host fine

the bolded line in the log would appear to point to your issue

go to System->Audio Output and set the output to fixed, 44.1kHz (be sure to be in 'Expert' mode). See if that helps (if not, try some of the other settings). Definitely sounds like an issue specific to your TV, if not a cabling issue.

I have a quick question: Since I have a SQL setup with Gotham on my other builds, can I select which version of OpenELEC I can install? I want to keep my versions consistent with all my devices...

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.6 - 2014/12/28] - Matt Devo - 2014-12-30

sure, download whatever version you want from OpenELEC's website. 4.2.1 is the last Gotham (13.2) version

Isn't some kind of driver related issue? I've experienced this Intel (Haswell) HDMI audio problem on many TVs (and my own AVR). The Chromebox is the only device I've ever had audio issues with, and you says that the problem is the TVs and AVRs. There may be some EDID bugs, but the Intel driver must be really picky when it comes to EDID related issues. Never had ANY problems with other PCs, gaming consoles or TV decoders

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.6 - 2014/12/28] - mattay32 - 2014-12-30

Please can someone help, I'm sure its a very easy fix and something I'm overlooking! Im currently wanting to upgrade to Kodi from Gothom on my chromebox. So looking at the wiki the easy way to do this is to put the .tar into the update file. So I opened my browser on my laptop and typed in the IP address of the chromebox but instead of showing me the file list etc it gives control over xbmc

What am I doing wrong?

I assume you are on windows? You need to use explorer, not internet explorer.

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.6 - 2014/12/28] - -DDD- - 2014-12-30

You have to open your Windows Explorer.
You can also try \\your.ip.adr.ess

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.6 - 2014/12/28] - nickr - 2014-12-30

doesn't osx have ssh/scp built in?

Code:
scp OpenELEC-whatever.tar root@chromeboxip:~/.update/
