there's no easy way for me to tab/shift all of the text to the right, so you need to adjust (turn off) any overscan on your TV; how to do this varies by manufacturer/model, so google to find out how to do it for yours.

Ok I will look into it, I did progress to Ubuntu installation... When I proseed with install instructions I get
Ubi-partman failure. Says it crashed as super user with exit code 10? What did I do?

no idea, never seen that error before. Assume you are attempting a dual boot install? Reboot, and try again. If that doesn't work, do a factory reset and restart the process.

I started the standalone process as per instructions and I did the date coreboot firmware and now I fear I messed something up as its stuck on the booting from hard disk and I can't seem to get it out of there

The ubi-partman error 10 bizzo brings up a lot of results on Google.

of course, you aren't the first person to run into this issue, which is why it's covered in the wiki (2nd bullet item):

A tid bit about the ongoing VC1 problem I mentioned .... I tried the test file on my mac min and pc laptop with kodi on each and playback was good. I believe both those systems showed DVXA as the acceleration though I think the laptop does use an intel graphics board...

the sample clip you provided, the only issue I noticed is some brief pixelization - is that what you're referring to?

I think so - at least I can reproduce this pixelation. Nice - it's non trivial. It happens in the VC1_Advanced decoding path of LIBVA. Funny part: vlc and mpv play it perfectly. It did not help yet to change the decoding profile, nor the Render Output. I asked my VAAPI coding colleague if he has an idea.

Thanks for the sample.

I get blocks. I wish I could get a picture but they don't stay if you pause. I may be able to find a similar picture. There may be pixelation in the first second of the video cause by not having all the data used in the seconds before (not sure if that makes sense.)

Here is the worst part I could capture:

The other one is at the legs of those guys and near the fence.

Is that on our beloved Chromeboxes?

Never seen on mine.

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.11 - 2015/02/03] - fritsch - 2015-02-05

That's vaapi decoding VC-1. Happens on all kodi / vaapi installations. Not chromebox related only ...

Edit: Just play the posted sample and look very exact.
