RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/06/10] - ZHamburglar - 2015-06-11 (2015-06-11, 03:51)wallympls Wrote: Okay making some progress here. Now when I boot to OpenElec I get a black screen instead of Kernal not found. I believe you are having the same problem that I am having as well. Do you have a desktop monitor to test with as well? I think that ours are defaulting to a resolution that is causing a video output error on an HDTV, rather than choosing 1080p. I try to test everything here prior to making it public, but obviously can't test every permutation, and the lack of MAC address isn't one that I normally bother with unless I change something related to it RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/06/10] - furii - 2015-06-11 (2015-06-11, 08:13)Matt Devo Wrote:(2015-06-11, 07:41)sd26 Wrote: All working again thank you very much for your support out of curiosity, is the ability to patch the mac address back in missing from the OE version of the script because it's not possible on OE or just for lack of demand (for lack of a better word)? i'd have patched my mac address back in long ago if it had been available without needing to create and boot a live stick. not that it matters much for me now RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/06/10] - Matt Devo - 2015-06-11 (2015-06-11, 18:45)furii Wrote: out of curiosity, is the ability to patch the mac address back in missing from the OE version of the script because it's not possible on OE or just for lack of demand (for lack of a better word)? i'd have patched my mac address back in long ago if it had been available without needing to create and boot a live stick. not that it matters much for me now it's mostly a result of the OE firmware updater script being functionally limited by the lack of a bash shell in OE. Everything in that script is different/separate from the main EZ script, and I'm not a fan of having to maintain multiple scripts with similar function but different implementations quit being lazy and just boot a live USB already RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/06/10] - furii - 2015-06-11 (2015-06-11, 19:51)Matt Devo Wrote:(2015-06-11, 18:45)furii Wrote: out of curiosity, is the ability to patch the mac address back in missing from the OE version of the script because it's not possible on OE or just for lack of demand (for lack of a better word)? i'd have patched my mac address back in long ago if it had been available without needing to create and boot a live stick. not that it matters much for me now that's kind of what i figured. i updated it yesterday with a live stick RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/06/10] - User 272824 - 2015-06-11 i've ordered asus chromebox which should arrive tomorrow and going to go for the openelec only install - on reading the instructions am i correct in thinking i will need two usb sticks for the job - one for the backup of the stock firmware/bios and one for the install media RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/06/10] - Matt Devo - 2015-06-11 (2015-06-11, 20:06)walkerx Wrote: i've ordered asus chromebox which should arrive tomorrow and going to go for the openelec only install - on reading the instructions am i correct in thinking i will need two usb sticks for the job - one for the backup of the stock firmware/bios and one for the install media correct, though you can get away with one if you copy the firmware from USB to another PC before creating the install media (which will wipe the USB) RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/06/10] - pboyle - 2015-06-11 (2015-06-11, 04:50)Matt Devo Wrote:(2015-06-11, 04:40)pboyle Wrote: Hello, just downloaded k ubuntu dual boot set up on my chromebox, but upon initial boot I am getting So am I out of luck here? You'd only need to reset if you wanted to change the partition size (or switch to OpenELEC) RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/06/10] - Arse4life - 2015-06-11 Hi Matt, I looked in wiki trying to check for any troubleshooting options for my problem but not sure if I see one . I have a dual boot OE/ chrome OS w/ 30sec delay. I turned it on today and I'm just getting a black screen. I've switched hdmi cables and also tried different hdmi ports to no avail. Do you think a factory restore is necessary? Thanks in advance. A factory reset won't work if the box isn't booting at all. You can try booting with the recovery button pressed and see if you get video that way |
