@matt where can I find details of the uefi bios? I can't see much in the wiki or post 1.

I need to expand/update a bit, but there's some info there at least =D

So I was able to update the firmware from SeaBIOS to UEFI without too much trouble. I created the LibreELEC installation media and powered down my Chromebox. I removed all other USB devices (minus the keyboard) and pressed ESC when the boot options came up. When I selected the LibreELEC USB install media, I got the error below. What do I need to do to get LibreELEC working on my Haswell Chromebox again?

redo your install media (use LibreELEC USB/SD tool), since it's messed up somehow. no need to hit ESC on boot, USB boot is automatic

Your suggestion worked. Thanks for the quick response!

I was able to install the UEFI firmware on my Asus Chromebox with the latest instructions and restore my Kodi backup (thank you!). Just a question, I see "boot failed; efi usb device" when I boot up, but then it goes onto Kodi as normal.

Is that because of this?

"This UEFI firmware does have a few limitations however: among other things, it lacks the ability to boot in Legacy Mode (often referred to as UEFI-CSM; this will likely never be implemented), and -- critically -- it lacks the ability to change/save settings, including the default boot device (external boot devices will always take precedence)"

So can I safely ignore that startup message?

that means you have a USB device attached that is not EFI bootable, so it's falling back to internal storage (SSD). That's normal/expected if you have something like an external HDD connected

Okay, thanks, I do use a USB flash drive for local files.

(LibreELEC Bluetooth not working - jerndl - 2017-01-06

Deleted. I'm a moron. Just needed to enable Bluetooth in services section first.

Now I can't get Bluetooth to work. On the settings page is says that Bluetooth is disabled. It was working fine with my older Libreelec version (kodi 16.1). I would appreciate any help with getting Bluetooth to work again. Thanks.

same as always: BT is turned off by default, enable it at the bottom of the Services page Smile

Thinking of switching from GalliumOS to LibreElec on one or both of my chromeboxes

however I still need to run google chrome or firefox web browser at times.
We subscribe and watch horse racing on various sites.

So the only option I can think of aside from just sticking with Gallium would be to load gallium or LibreElec on an SD card or usb stick and reboot as needed.

Not ideal but I am so impressed with LibreElec on my new pi3 and we only use the the web browser about 25% of the time

Any better ideas?

LibreELEC has the Chromium Browser addon for x86_64 devices, might be worth checking if that's sufficient for your browsing needs.

Getting a 404 on the update file below linked from the wiki, is there a more recent file or different place to download the latest update from?

The requested URL /LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-7.90.007.tar was not found on this server.

thanks

One more thing, I just installed LibreElec, can I do a restore of the backup that was done with OpenElec, or is that for a backup made with LibreElec?

download directly from www.libreelec.tv -- I need to remove the direct links from the wiki since it's a pain to keep them up to date

you can try, but can't promise it will go smoothly. Best case some settings won't transfer properly, worst case you'll just need to do a hard reset (or reinstall)
