Install on dedicated server? - epicbobman - 2014-05-18 Hi everyone! This may be the most stupid question ever but can I install XBMC on a Ubuntu Server (via ssh) then have my XBMC clients look there kinda like plex can? I am a plex convert and not sure if I can do this. If I can can anyone link a tutorial? RE: Install on dedicated server? - vikjon0 - 2014-05-18 Yes, more or less but it is tricky to run xbmc completely without gui and I dont think there is many advantages. Standard xbmc will not even start without graphical drivers. Instead you could run multiple xbmc on the same db stored on the server. RE: Install on dedicated server? - epicbobman - 2014-05-18 Would that mean all my plug in and media are synced? Can I get a how to link? RE: Install on dedicated server? - nickr - 2014-05-20 Why would you want xbmc on the server? Simply serve the files via smb or nfs and install XBMC on the devices you watch on. Bonus for 10 - install mysql on the server and share the database to all the clients. |
