RE: Minix Neo X8-H review "Best XBMC ever" - EdT586 - 2014-12-03

Just be warned if you update to the latest firmware for the X8/X8-H/X-8 Plus, you will loose the ability of your RF USB air mouse to awake the unit from Sleep Mode !
You will have to physically get up and press the power button on the unit to awaken it or use the stock Minix IR or M1 remote. The Minix A1+ and A2 will not work since they do not have an IR emitter ...IMO a dumb move on Minix's part !

v001 20140529: USB RF Awake
Beta v002-v004: USB RF Awake
Beta v005-v009: No USB RF Awake
V002 20141129: No USB RF Awake

I'm trying to debug amcodec hardware acceleration at the moment and searched everywhere for the source code to the custom XBMC v13.3 MINIX run on their AMlogic Hardware, do you think I could find it. ? No Sad

-nickr has already asked twice in this thread for the source code with no success...

Even on the MINIX forums themselves I find this roadblock:

EDIT:
from Ken over on MINIX: Smile

Our long term goal is NOT to develop our own Kodi, we have agreed to share those fixes on our edition to the Github.
In the old days we had to make our own edition because the decoder compatibility was not good.
Now it is much better, and it will keep getting better.

Do source code requests still have to be given when asked for to honour GPL even if contributions are made to Github ?

Please ask Koying, it should be on the Github.

github is a big place. Where on github?

If you are talking about the kodi github, I guess you are saying that a standard kodi release will work , including all your patches/changes.

Perhaps you might like to report which of your developers committed your patches to kodi github so we can see them.

Yes Kodi Github, we have agreed to open all modifications done on our edition.
Please ask Koying, he knows about that.

Well I'm confused, is it: Confused

a) MINIX code that has been mainlined in the Kodi master on Github

or

b) A MINIX fork of XBMC/Kodi somewhere on Github ?

or

c) A pirate treasure hunt just to look for the MINIX booty ? Aarrgghhh Wink

https://github.com/MINIX-NEO/xbmc is the place...
Probably not 100% up-to-date, but there is nothing there that's not in SPMC (https://github.com/koying/SPMC) which itself shouldn't have anything left not in Kodi regarding amlogic, IIRC.

Cheers Koying Smile

I'm actually wondering if the AV jack can supply analog audio (like, you know, a headphone jack) while the HDMI is in use. One of these AMlogic devices on Amazon has a reviewer claiming that the HDMI shuts off the AV out plug when in use. Is that true, and is there anything that can be done about it? At the very least, I'd think we should be able to keep the audio connection there alive, which is all I want. Really need analog audio out of one of these things for an on-location setup to a sound system. Or when I want to use headphones. Smile

What do you guys think of the x9 they had on there site they removes the spec sheet from there site

RE: Minix Neo X8-H review "Best XBMC ever" - wrxtasy - 2015-07-17

No idea about the X9, but the next in line would be a media player from MINIX with the successor to the AMlogic S805/S812, that being the S905/S912 with the following specs:

http://www.cnx-software.com/2015/03/27/amlogic-s905-s912/

These SoC's are already in some media boxes in Asia.

RE: Minix Neo X8-H review "Best XBMC ever" - sandogo1 - 2015-07-17

The x9 has the A17 with the quad core Mali T764 gpu

MINIX don't have "X9", I think he means the "X88-i" that MINIX are selling to industrial customers for signage use.
It's not within the NEO series.

By the way, X8-H PLUS is the last product for the NEO X series. No more X#.
