Hi bromix, first thing: thanks for the high quality addon.

I'm using the 1080xf Skin and the YouTube addon version 5.0.5 and there is something wrong with the wizard setup execution for the list view selection.

Wizard setup:

With Confluence --> i'm asked first to select the view default and then the view episode. The possible choice are restricted to the ones available in the skin.
With 1080xf --> i'm only asked to select the view default but there is no option to select the view episode. Besides, the wizard proposes a lot (all?) of list view, not only the ones that belong to the skin (Anyway, if I select "thumbnail" (that is a valid choice), the preference is saved)

The "problem" is that I cannot save the view episode preference.

thanks and keep up the brilliant work

regards
Andrea

Thanks for the information Smile I will update the supported views in v5.0.7. Somehow I missed this information Smile
Just got the update (5.0.7) and tested..yesss it's working!!!
Thanks so much!
Andrea

RE: YouTube v5.X.X - KODI 14.0 Helix - TheDefiant604 - 2015-03-01

Is it possible to add the ability to update the watched videos history? I'd like to have this included in the add-on so that I can quickly find videos I watched in Kodi when I'm browsing YouTube directly.

Hey bromix,

Thanks again for your efforts. Since beta4 and now the official 5.0.7 - the search result stuff works good for me. The occasional search brings back a list view but I'm just putting that down to gremlins - the majority work fine now Big Grin

Also found a vid that brings the restricted content error. The log file doesn't give much away, the video works fine in my web browsers - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibNsBAxa-hQ

The error displayed within the plugin is "This video contains restricted content from WMG. It is restricted from playback on certain sites. Watch from Youtube" - understand the error tells you how to fix the problem but I didn't hit this with the old plugin - unless it's because of APIv3?

I don't mean displaying my YouTube history in the add-on. I mean adding videos I watch to the history. Right now, if I watch a video via the add-on, then go to youtube.com/feed/history in my web browser, there's no record of the video I watched via the add-on.

I see...I look into this but can't promise anything. Last time it was a hack because the official API doesn't allow updating the history.

RE: YouTube v5.X.X - KODI 14.0 Helix - xbmcwayist - 2015-03-02

For some reason my systems with KODI and XBMC no longer update this addon. Both systems are stuck on 5.0.0 Beta 2, despite the Bromix Repo claiming YouTube to be at 5.0.7. Yet, there is no update option. Oh, and I use this YouTube addon fully now (with the YouTube Forwarder) instead of the previous YouTube addon.

Anybody know why this is happening? Is it possibly related to the YouTube Forwarder use?

I am mostly eager to update on account of the "It fixed the error "It is restricted from playback on certain sites. watch it on youtube". Thanks for the quick fix" fix that was done in the 5.0.5 Beta 4 version as I am getting that error on nearly every video.

The plugin changed the install path when it became the default Youtube plugin on Kodi, so you just need to uninstall it and install it again and you should get the latest version and updates should work again.

I don't think you need the Forwarder anymore. And it might create problems installing the new version.

It's not a real biggie if it can't be done. I mostly use the add-on to watch live eSports through Kodi, which isn't a big deal if it doesn't show up in my history.

Good to know, thanks. I was not aware this YouTube became the default. I will remove the forwarder and the old YouTube plugin then if Bromix's YouTube will now work for it all. Thanks again!

Oh, and what about on Gotham? Can I just remove the old YouTube addon and the forwarder and everything will work with Bromix's YouTube?

RE: YouTube v5.X.X - KODI 14.0 Helix - nickr - 2015-03-02

If you read the whole thread you will see that there are some differences between this and the old addon. Some of that is because Bromix is doing things according to the API and th API doesn't do everything that a 'hack' might do - but IMHO that is a good thing, API stuff should continue to work, hacks die.

I have been on this thread for a while now and can definitely see the differences. I was mostly curious if due to the now default status of Bromix's YouTube addon, will all addons which use YouTube now use Bromix's YouTube just as they once did with the older YouTube addon. Previously, the YouTube forwarder would enable all addons to direct their YouTube queries/use to Bromix's YouTube rather than the older, formerly default, YouTube addon.

Can you please give me some examples (video id) to work with Wink so I can take a look at it and maybe fix it (if possible)
