If you do not have equipment capable of reproducing Dolby Atmos does not mean that other people do not have them.

It is also unfortunate that you are unable to make your system be able to play a system that, like it or not to you, is now available and which will be more and more titles for home use.

Lamentable response yourself.

1. Fritsch is probably the most productive developer I see in the area of the forums that I frequent the most. He is responsible for large chunks of the audio code in XBMC as well as an enormous amount of video playback code.

2. How do you expect him to code this without the equipment to test it? Donations of hardware are accepted. Perhaps you should put your hand in your pocket?

3. It is well known on this and many other open source projects that developers will code things that interest them, they get the need to "scratch that itch". If fritsch doesn't have the itch, why should he scratch yours?

4. Rudeness from people like you do nothing to keep developers on the project. Quite the opposite really.

5. The project owes you nothing, and you can get a refund on the cost of the software at the door :-)

RE: Dolby atmos - MadScientist - 2014-10-21

May be academic anyway. Unless Dolby can come up with some decent content soon, it will be DOA. Current releases are truely woeful!

Object-based audio does sound pretty amazing however, so I'm hoping DTS UHD, with it's open source software platform, will dominate in the longer term.

but still no audio.(when using the TrueHD audio track)

I updated to the latest nightly right over my old installation yesterday and I was able to hear the Dolby TrueHD track on Transformers 4.

Developing without the equipment necessary to test what's been built is a non-starter. You are being silly.

Current releases? So far there is 1, Transformer Age of Extinction, and from all reports I've read, it's fantastic.

Why would a new, unproven spec possibly be the saving grace for object-based audio (as you are making it sound) when Atmos has been around in theaters for 2 years with a plethora of titles while dts hasn't even finalized the name of their format?

RE: Dolby atmos - selden - 2014-10-23

The Dolby Atmos demo trailers are now available for download. They work fine when played from USB through a hardware BD player to an Atmos-capable AVR or pre/pro. Be sure to get the new TrueHD uploads. The older versions have lossy Dolby Digital soundtracks.

They're at the top of the Dolby section.

RE: Dolby atmos - un1versal - 2014-10-23

@selden

Instead of posting "versions" of that post in each thread you find about Dolby atmos consider adding it to the kodi wiki instead.

Kind of thought that was obvious. Guess I was incorrect. Thanks for having my back!

I can confirm these files now play well, soundtrack detected as TrueHD 7.1.
Of course without the Atmos.

Tested on Windows Kodi 14.0-Alpha5 nightly 22. oct 2014, Ubuntu Kodi 14-0-Alpha5 26. oct 2014.

RE: Dolby atmos - sialivi - 2014-11-02

TrueHD isn't the only codec that can use the Atmos extension; Dolby Digital Plus can as well. Does anyone have a Dolby Digital Plus sample with Atmos?

RE: Dolby atmos - movie78 - 2014-11-23

Will my receiver (Onkyo TX-NR838 display Dolby Atmos or TRUEHD if i am using the latest OpenElec 4.2.1?

Thanks!

RE: Dolby atmos - fritsch - 2014-11-23

No receiver will display Atmos, it will display TrueHD of course when using xbmc.
