Any news on the TBS®2910 Matrix ARM mini PC? - eskro - 2014-09-23

Image

SoC : Freescale i.MX6Q Quad Core ARM Cortex-A9 at 1.0GHz
GPU : Vivante GC2000 Quad core
RAM : 2GB DDR3
Storage : 16GB eMMC

I know there was a thread in here for this little guy but still,
wanted to create a new one and see if anyone had the box
and how well it as going,,,?

Main thing is that OpenELEC apparently runs on it now!
http://vienergie.wordpress.com/2014/08/26/openelec-ported-to-tbs-2910-matrix-board-supports-dvb-tsc-dvr-and-iptv-server-functions/

So is it just another box that will lack support therefor die,
or it will live up!??

i.MX6 is still very much alive, see https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/5202

Active downstream fork at https://github.com/xbmc-imx6/xbmc before merged into upstream mainline master.

Main discussion here http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=161793

Freescale i.MX6 platform is still gaining popularity and more hardware based on it is released every month.

I think this is due to great Linux support from Freescale, as seen in OpenELEC and GeeXboX / OpenBricks

Many cheap developer boards are based on Freescale iMX6 which means a broad user-base of developers.

For a more end-user targeted appliance device based on it checkout the EzeeCube, or PC Partner D518.

If you need more evidence then do a search for "Freescale" on sites like CNX-software.com or liliputing.com

Freescale have unveiled plans for i.MX6 Next, i.MX7 and i.MX8 so iMX series support will live on a long time

Most of the discussion on Freescale i.MX6 XBMC/Kodi is happening on http://www.solid-run.com/community/xbmc-player-on-cubox-i-and-hummingboard-f7.html
