Have to agree with this. Next time, I'd suggest either release an Alpha and mention it's just for testing at own risk, or if you claim it improves playback, not mention or release until you're confident it does just that. Need not be perfect, but at least a solid beta.

So far, all have been OTA, but this Alpha looks like just their (VidOn) XBMC Gotham APK, which would need to be sideloaded. Will try soon and report back.

Just tried the new VidOn XBMC Gotham alpha. As I was about to test, I was wondering... shouldn't VidOn guys just skip ahead to Kodi 14 at this point?! Why bother with Gotham and stay a step behind?

VidOn's XBMC Gotham alpha is actually quite good for an alpha. I did have a few lock-ups, forcing me to physically unplug and replug, but all in all, performance is very similar to their Frodo version. I didn't find any noticeable improvements though. But, I already had HD audio and 3D ISO's working under Frodo with my AVR and TV/projector combos.

Bitrate continues to max out 60Mbps before stuttering happens (re-tried both Jellyfish and Birds test clips). HD audio, both DTS-MA and TrueHD, also continue to bitstream fine, both 5.1 and 7.1.

The main issue I'm finding with VidOn's XBMC Gotham alpha is buffering. It happens at start of full 2D/3D BD rips, and at various spots while watching. This is via wired cate5e and SMB. I still can't get NFS to work on any Android device (Fire TV, VidOn, Kindle HDX); I can see the shares, but never drill below to actual movie/TV folders. No such issues on Mede8er and Chromebox.

One more issue... VidOn's XBMC Gotham is set to 720p. Can't change this. Videos play at actual/proper resolution however.

Finally, I also did an OTA update from box to VidOn Media Center v 0.0.1.3. This now adds ability to boot directly into XBMC if you want. Nice addition.

Just watch my first movie on the VidOn box.

Still using the original VidOn Xbmc

Network=Buffers
USB=Buffers

After 30 mins of the movie i had to stop it.

And i was demonstrating this box in front of some guess.(What a shame)
I had to switch to ChromeBox and watch the movie in 2D.

The latest official version are: SDK 1.2, VMC 0.0.1.3, VidOn XBMC 1.1.0.2

Because Kodi 14 is still in the beta version stage, so in order to make VidOn XBMC more stable, we developed VidOn XBMC based on Gotham. But as a sponsor of XBMC(Kodi), of course we will upgrade to Kodi 14 in the future.

What's the format of "full 2D/3D BD rips"? They are .iso file or other formats?

In VMC 0014, we add File Management back, which will allow you to play movies directly from external hard drive, SMB, NFS or UPnP in Main Movie Mode or Menu Mode. This version is going to be released very soon.

Why did you change your statement, you said VidOn Xbmc Gotham release today. That means the release has already passed the beta stage.
And then you turn around and give us an alpha release.
