RE: New HiMedia Q5 - artou - 2015-04-25

Hi, I am interested to replace my Dune Base 3D some time but not really in a hurry, Kodi is the main attractiveness for a move.

I would like to know if you guys, owners of the the European/English version of HiMedia Q5 4K3D are already 100% satisfied with HiMedia or which would be the issues still bothering you.

Specifically in the comparison if could beat Dune, I would like to know if Q5 plays perfectly 3D (native Blu ray 3D full 1080p) content from ISO files?; and with Bluray menus? Subtitles are correct positioned when playing SBS and HOU files? Cinavia is an issue?

I did read the whole thread Smile and the contributions here are impressive, but as just bought another player that don't deliver what it promised for 3D (Vidon don't play ISO's with my Optoma projector at all and very badly with a Pana plasma TV), I still in doubt with some specific points of 3D to purchase H5

RE: New HiMedia Q5 - hdmkv - 2015-04-25

90% happy. MPEG2 doesn't play well, and neither does VC-1 (noted here), whether it's 23.976 or 29.970. Blu-ray menus are not supported. Cinavia isn't an issue.

I can play them and the audio is fine but the video is really jumpy, totally unwatchable. By jumpy I don't mean anything like the small video stutters that you get every so often with the 23.9Hz whatever files.

I just updated to the 1.0.8 firmware thinking that might solve the problem seeing as it contains a fix for atmos but its had no effect other that being able to get sound out of transformers with atmos.

Thanks
Mark.

i play transformers FUll 3d iso without problem into only dolby true hd, i don't have atoms amp.

Dolby Atmos Demonstration Disc 2014 wotk in dolby true HD without problem, i can't test atoms.

RE: New HiMedia Q5 - hdmkv - 2015-05-06

Just attach those 2 thermal pads? Looks like site you linked to shows a fan in use as well to get that temp drop?

BTW, you had previously mentioned a new HiMedia H7; appears you're right. It's a H7 II 4K, looks similar to M3 4K specs. H7 gen 1 had Allwinner chip, and gen 2 has same HiSilicon chip as in Q5 4K, Q10 4K and M3 4K. Man, HiMedia's model #'s are so confusing, and why so many variations of even the HiSilicon-based boxes?!

RE: New HiMedia Q5 - Kluiver7830 - 2015-05-07

Hi, all.

I got Chinese version of Q5 quad. Actually I bought from eBay.
But, I heard that it can not apply any English firmware at all.

Is there anyone know how can I apply English firmware? (ie. Futeko's version)
And, if you know about how can root Q5, please let me know about it.

Thanks!!!

RE: New HiMedia Q5 - Skank - 2015-05-07

I video of the q5 european model would be cool
from startup , browsing in kodi, launching 3d iso and back to menu

So we can see how smooth everything is

No way yet of installing the English firmware, someone has to work out what the differences are between the 2 softwares first, I wouldn't know where to begin with that.

As for rooting you can read this http://www.android-mediaplayer.de/index.php/Thread/1300-TTL-Root-Method-for-Chinese-Q3-4K-Device/ I have not tried it yet.

Good luck.
