Netflix 4k requires HDCP 2.2

NVIDIA shield is the only avaiable for Netflix 4k (that im aware)

Thanks for your reply. It's the Netflix on this player at least 1080p?

I don't have this player, but I can tell you that just like all the other Android TV boxes this will only have 720x480 (SD) resolution. WeTeK Core is the only Android TV box from a company oustside the U.S. that has Netflix 1080p.

RE: New HiMedia Q5 - wrxtasy - 2015-10-21

Yes unless an Android device is Google Widevine Level 1 certified, 720x480p is the Max resolution.

There are a whole bunch of detailed specific requirements, training etc that needs to be met as well to get certified.
https://www.widevine.com/getting_started.html

As Wesk05 stated, the WeTek Core is the only Android box outside of the major tech / media companies to get HD 1080p Netflix.
This is a pretty big deal for HD Netflix / Kodi Android / all in the one box - fans outside of the U.S.

Has anyone actually gotten Atmos to work using Kodi on the HiMedia Q5? Also, am curious... if yes, then what is special about this box compared with others that lose the Atmos metadata when they send TrueHD info to a receiver? Note: I would be buying a European box.

NO, HD audio, full 3D and auto-switch fps work only with himediaplayervideo app . There isn't yet a android box with Hd audio work with kodi.

Thanks. I checked some Youtube videos to see how the "XBMC wrapper" works on the HiMedia Q5 for Atmos. Certainly does not win any FAF (Family Acceptance Factor) awards. And I am not so excited by lack of gigabit ethernet and AC wifi. Although the new H8-III has these last two, it does not do Atmos. So sounds like I wait for something new from Kodi for Android, as well as probably for some other hardware.

RE: New HiMedia Q5 - looun - 2015-10-30

you waiting long time... also new android 6 ( api level 23 ) support only DTS-HD, NOT True Hd/Atoms. The only hope is nvidia shiled ( with some patch ).

RE: New HiMedia Q5 - hansolo - 2015-10-30

Hello. I am a new customer for a Himedia Q5 after reading great posts from this forum members.
I have a little problem. I have a clip link which I use test motion resolution for TVs. This clip is a standard Rec.709 encode and has a 1080p pattern, first part still, second part having a horizontal panning. The second part is not the case here, but for the first part I have a problem that using Himediaplayer, doesn't show distinct/non blur lines up to 1080 resolution.
I have latest firmware 3.0.1.1. Playing with Kodi (DVD Player, not wrapper), no acceleration show much better resolution (almost no blur for the static part), using acceleration gives more blur, using MX Player is also blur if I use acceleration (almost no blur with software).
Changing screen resolution (1080p, 4k, etc) from settings doesn't improve the problem, my TV shows selected output but the video is still blur with himedia player.
I have a Samsung HU7500 TV, a bluray player LG BP 740 and a Egreat R6A2. All of them have a much better output for this video (flawless in static part) using same or other HDMI input/cable (so no, it's not the cable/HDMI port).
Resolution loss is visible in movies but this clip shows exact the problem.
Please tell me if I have a problem with settings or it's the same situation for you.
Many thanks!

You can't use DVDPlayer(kodi) , you must use himediaplayervideo(wrapper) simple . Kodi NOT suppord Hisilicon SoC( nice to be have! ) .
Hisiliocn SoC have Image and Display Processing (Imprex Processing Engine),it need himedia app to work, it need special menu to set picture quality ... no way.

RE: New HiMedia Q5 - hdmkv - 2015-10-30

1. Make sure Kodi has run at least once, then quit out
2. Install HiMediaWrapper APK
3. Open/run HiMediaWrapper app
4. Click OK to install playercorefactory.xml
5. Done... now re-open Kodi and your videos will use wrapper to play them in HiMediaPlayer (vs. Kodi's dvdplayer)
