kodi http limitation - coldlsr77 - 2014-11-02

Kodi use to be my main media center, until recently I moved most of my video contents to the cloud. It seems that kodi won't resume, or seek any files that is over 3 gb in size when streaming via http. It will always play from beginning if attempt to resume. It won't do anything if seeking forward or backward.

The only media player that will do this are mxplayer & bsplayer from android. Is there any solution or hope kodi will add this feature soon?

Is your media scanned into your library?

Perhaps posting a debug log (wiki) will help.

How to scan a http movie link?

I won't be at my htpc for awhile but here are a couple of files that won't seek/resume:

It seems all files under 2gb files function properly. But most files between 2-3gb has the issues. And anything above 3gb is 100% not seeking.

RE: kodi http limitation - tinybutstrong - 2014-11-03

Ok, found a solution to scrap to the library. Just put the url inside a .strm file in a local movie folder. Progress status and mark as read on end will not works though. Seek works, but its a bit complicated, because need to wait the buffering.

RE: kodi http limitation - lrusak - 2014-11-03

If you add a http media source you should be able to scrape it to your library

RE: kodi http limitation - tinybutstrong - 2014-11-03

@lrusak, What you mean for "http media source"? as you can see in coldlsr77 example links, all we have are http links to movie files from private cloud service.

RE: kodi http limitation - lrusak - 2014-11-03

If the http directory is browsable it should be able to be scraped

RE: kodi http limitation - tinybutstrong - 2014-11-03

Yes, I see. But this is not applicable to our case.

Re: kodi http limitation - coldlsr77 - 2014-11-03

The problem still exists even if it's scrape. The problem seems to be http. If I stream the same files from ftp server there is no issues.

Here is a 3gb file that won't seek/resume :

And here is the same file that was trimmed to under 2gb and is now able to resume/seek:
