Asus Chromebox M009U for £150 insane deal??? - denz13 - 2014-11-26
Hi all I've been on the hunt for a Chromebox for ages, the Celeron 2955 (M004U) in particular because of its price point. I've just seen a Asus Chromebox model m009u on sale for £150 here in the UK which appears to be the same as the m004u but with an extra 2gb ram.
Is there something on the m009u model that I should be aware of or any disadvantages over the m004u?

Nope the only difference between the 2 is as you stated the extra 2gbs of ram compared to the m004u. The ASUS Chromebox has 2 ram slots and the m004u only has a single stick of 2gb of ram while the m009u has 2 2gbs sticks making for a total of 4gb of ram other then that difference they are the exact same box.

I have read that the ASUS is the one to go for as it has 2 slots for RAM while the HP one has only 1 and also has a louder fan...Does the HP one come with wireless keyboard and mouse also? Decisions.....I really want to get one but can not justify unless I get rid of one of my boxes. Any body know if its worth the upgrade from a revo RL70? Also can you put a different SSD drive in to give more storage?

I've bought the HP chromebox with 4gb ram using for openelec only. It has replaced a revo 3610. The fan noise isn't a concern, really, I've not heard it unless head to the box and trying to stress it. Dont let that worry you.
To be honest the only reason for the upgrade was HD audio passthrough, which works great. For £150, its a no brainer.

Just bought the asus chromebox M004U from amazon.com shipped to the UK with all customs paid plus postage for the grande total of £104.
I didn't need the keyboard or mouse that comes with the UK version and as I'm only using it as a stand alone xbmc unit i only need the 2GB ram.
I'll bump in a PS3 remote and be a happy christmas bunny

thanks danfloss, I seriously recommend you post this as a new thread, £104 for a chromebox is an insane deal, how long did it take to arrive. really post this deal, you would be making many many UK kodi fans happy! If I had the money I would buy this myself
