I have it running aOK from the beta repository in the first post. Helix 14.1 using Chrome.

I also notice this is a popular thread with lots of requests. Just wanted to say thank you all for the hard work and the contributions you all are making!

Doesn't netflix run on HTML5 now, and can be run in a HTML5 video player which again is just a video source in Kodi?

The reason I am asking is that everything is in the wrong FPS in relation to my refresh rate, and I have not found any smooth way to detect and change prior to launch a video...

+1

AFAIK, this is still impossible: the HTML5 player uses a closed-source DRM solution built into Chrome, which isn't available to the Kodi devs. So, the video is still encrypted, and decrypted internally by Chrome while rendering. This video component cannot be stripped out/reused by Kodi, and the best we can currently do is start Chrome at the right URL.
I'm afraid this problem will persist until either Netflix drops DRM (which they probably won't, but one can hope ;-) ) or Kodi gets a closed-source addon for playing Netflix streams. I suppose the latter would be possible as a binary add-ons, but that won't fly without support from Netflix, and they are not going to give that to hobbyist coders.

Just a hunch, but kodibuntu probably comes without a window manager, which is needed to get the Chrome window to go full screen. This is what google gives me: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=170965&pid=1581543#pid1581543

Right. But it is rendered somewhere, the video is going somewhere. The frames are drawn to a window object, or some surface in the X API. And the sound goes through whatever system is set up (not really that important, but it CAN be intercepted).

So it should be possible to hijack / hook into a framebuffer to grab the frames, and possibly get events on how often they are drawn to figure out the FPS.

I found something here:

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=25&pid=1857984#pid1857984

OR implement chromecast receiver functionality, which unfortunally isn't open and has to be reverse engineered.

same problem here... In the past I could fix this by using a custom browser script in chrome launcher which would launch openbox first...
Now I could change the browser script that is delivered with the addon but that would be overwritten with every addon update.
@corona: any chance you can make a small setting for this in the addon to launch a window manager first for kodibuntu users ?

EDIT: The answer might be in here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=170965&pid=1942706#pid1942706

Just tried this and it launches Chrome now fullscreen without a window manager...
Only thing I can't figure out is how to exit and get focus back to Kodi

You'll need to use your own country code, so for example en-NL should work if you are in the Netherlands (not tested what changing the en to represent a different language would do, I suspect return the description in that language. en-NL definitely returns an acceptable JSON response for Better Call Saul. .

Thanks !

I ran into the same problem and can also confirm that changing it to "en-NL" worked for me too.

I decided to put linux mint on because it has codecs pre loaded..Netflixbmc now plays full screen, now if only i could program my remote to close it with Ctrl F4 Does anyone know why the repository http://www.alelec.net/kodi/repository.alelec.zip has netflixbmc 1.3.11 rather than the netflixbmc 1.3.14?

I created this account as I've noticed the same thing as well...it's installing 1.3.11. There an issue with repo or a caching issue?

Does anyone know how to force a profile switch? When selecting a profile it seems you're stuck with that profile until it arbitrarily pops back up again, usually after a restart. I have "Show profile selection on each start" enabled, but it doesn't seem to work. Ideally I'd like a sub-menu option for "Choose Profile" or something like that...

There is an option. Head to the root of the app (where you can select series or movies) and press C on your keyboard (probably mapped to something like options on your remote). There you have the option of changing profile.

Excellent, I had no idea that was there. Thanks!

Hello dev

Great work keeping this plugin alive.

However, I'm having a bug in the "Who's watching?" step. It shows blank, as others have stated. And I think that directly relates to the fact that when I try to play media, Chrome opens succesfully but with a Netflix Error Message asking me to go to home screen (with a hotlink provided). If I click the Home screen, I can navigate the site and play content. If I close Chrome and select content from inside Kodi, I see the same error screen.

I attach a short log of the only thing I find somewhat relevant:

Code:

If I copy and paste the URL in the penultimate line into a browser, I get to profile selection screen.

For more information, I'm from Argentina and use Kodi set in Spanish (Argentina) Language and Argentina Region.

Thanks the time you are investing in this great and necessary plugin.
Cheers

P.S: I'm using Linux (Kodibuntu, but the behaviour is the same in the shelled Kodi and in the Lubuntu that comes with the distro).[/quote]
