KODI scan local files to build database ! - sol_xpert - 2015-01-15 Hello I installed Kodi fresh on a fresh windows 8.1 HTPC i have 12tera bytes of Movies and TV shows all the Movies and TV shows are indexed with Media companion with their posters and related .nfo files in the movie/show folder -movies --- mov1 --- mov2 --- etc .. -shows --- show1 ------- s1 ------- s2 --- show2 ------- s1 ------- etc ... Kodi had to scan all the folders and access internet to pull data for several hours to build the database MY Question is , if i format my HTPC for some reason , i will have to wait for this scan all over again HOW can I make KODI save the scan result locally in each movie/show folder there by making the new scan finish in a couple of minutes ? THANK YOU RE: KODI scan local files to build database ! - PatK - 2015-01-15 In settings>video>export library you will be presented with a requester to back-up with serrate or single file. Choose separate and follow along, this will put a copy of your meta-data in each folder next to your video. Next time you need to scan/scrape, this local meta-data should be used first. I thought MC had a Kodi/XBMC compatibility format, but in some cases if there is missing data or the meta-data is in a format that is not 100% compatible with XBMC/Kodi, a web search is needed. It's also healthy to back-up to a single file and save to a different place, then an import is all that is needed.
