New animated posters and backgrounds have been added to the database: 61 new posters and 8 new backgrounds.
The database now contains 303 animated posters and 517 animated backgrounds of 455 different movies.

Thanks to koufos for the new additions.

I have added over 170 animated covers and 280 backgrounds from movies to it (and more be added. I still have around 200 on my HD to process). Every animated gif is renamed to it's imdb number (themoviedb.org number is also available). The original as an resized version is available.

Since I only use it in the app, the database is in json format. You can find it at this location: http://www.consiliumb.com/animatedgifs/movies.json

An entry looks like this:

You can construct the url to the image using the baseURL (http://www.consiliumb.com/animatedgifs) and the image name:

An example (resized version):

Code:

An example (original version):

Code:

I could upload a .zip file but it will be around 1.2 GB in size. Quite a lot to download.

I have downloaded those gifs from everywhere. If data is incorrect or you are the creator, just leave me a message and I will correct it.
If you have an addition, please let me know.

I hope I can make some people happy, there are really a lot of cool animated gifs made!

If the offer for the zip is still open that would be appreciated.Cool

RE: Animated Movie Posters - rschiks - 2016-04-02

The zip file would now be more than 2GB in size. Quite large to download.....and to upload.

And of course adding logos is not a problem. I just create a new type of entry. A few minutes work.

Currently skin helper only pulls the first poster but I will change this and provide an option to select the animated poster to the user.
Thanks for your work!

That's great to hear! Big Grin

Now added to Git; a contextmenu item which will allow the user to manually select the preferred animated poster.

Cool!

Did you create it from the youtube movie?
And if so, would you like to share the steps needed?

RE: Animated Movie Posters - koufos - 2016-04-02

Good work Andy!
Thanks to rschiks for the youtube video!

I realised that at photobucket you can upload gifs with more frames. The same gif at imgur was uploaded as video, not as gif...
To create o gif from .mp4 or .mov at photoshop you should go to file/import/video frames to layers
