Anyone have any idea why?

It's at time machine speeds ;-)

hehe good one Smile ... Mike... did you check it outside of kodi ? is it timetraveling outside too ?

RE: Animated Movie Posters - Mike_Doc - 2016-04-28

Rschiks, we spoke about adding a clean column to the DB, so one way we could progress in the future is if you create a clean poster i.e. image with logo only which alot of us like then when it goes into the DB the clean column would be set. Then perhaps I can talk to Marcel and he can expand the skin help to have a switch in settings for clean posters only and then he only grabs from the DB where the clean column is set? This way the DB can continue to grow when those who create posters do more and they can do them in whatever style they like and then the user controls which style of poster to show in their Kodi.

Everything is still in it's infancy and will grow and Schimi2k, if you can start creating clean ones when you can as with marcels context menu options it is quite easy to change to another animated poster at the moment and perhaps in the future like I said it can be set to only grab clean posters?

Time will tell.

S, can you send Rschiks your star wars ones so they can go into the DB as well please.

I'd love to be able to do anything on the graphics side just to help out, not only these animated posters but artwork in general although the strict rules @ fanart.tv scare me now and I don't do anything. More logos, clearart, music cds. discart is never a bad thing

@rschiks, maybe a some point the DB will have animated posters, background, banners, logos etc etc. etc. ohh wishful thinking probably?

I have already added the star wars poster (english versions) with the last update :-)

If the clean attribute is still wanted I can add it, no problem. Just thought with the new context menu option where you can select the animated posters it wasn't needed anymore....but no problem, I can still add it.

Last December I wrote in the fanart.tv forum about the idea of adding animated fanart to their site. They only wanted to add content if it was done in a specific way, see post #324:

(2015-12-23, 13:05)Kode Wrote: How many frames go into these gifs?

While I wouldn't want gifs on the fanart.tv site, what I would consider is if there were full size posters (jpgs) with say up to 120 frames.

Then we could reduce them down to a specific size and generate an animated gif from that, that would mean if a better option came about later (webp maybe) we could use that from the original frames directly, it would also be possible to create the same affect with css, by defining all the keyframes and animating it.

This is the reason why I started the database. Not perfect, but at least there is something. And no, I don't have a problem with it at all of adding other animated art as well, but for the website....I don't have time now to do it myself.

If anyone is interested in the job, please leave a message. For starters a simple website where the animated gifs can be seen and downloaded would suffice. Search option of course and the ability to upload animated gifs. And of course, there should be an api available, so scripts, apps or whatever could do a query.
Domain name and space I can take care of. I also have no problem paying for it (within reason of course).

RE: Animated Movie Posters - ziggy231 - 2016-04-29

Hi people

I am just getting involved with changing my artwork for my movies to GIFs rather than JPG

Is this just a matter of replacing the JPG files in your movie folder with the GIF ones for them to work, hope you can help

I have managed to find most GIF files from searching for Animated Cinemagraph Posters in Google as someone mentioned before

Thanks

Ziggy

Depends what skin you are using, some now automate the process of animated posters / backgrounds. But otherwise you would have to manually update each films artwork and assign the aninated poster as poster for each film. Don't think artwork downloader pulls in poster.gif to db. If you have found new posters then plase post here and rshicks will add to his db which is used in the auto process.

Nice!!!!

PS: Can you replace the ANT-MAN in the database with this one.

Thanks!

RE: Animated Movie Posters - Mike_Doc - 2016-05-02

Sorry movie78 but why should what you want be put in the db as the main choice for a film and for everyone else? If anything rshicks can add it as an additional poster!

As you can see both Ant-Man posters are in the database. I can't just switch them now, because if people have chosen one it will suddenly be changed two another one.

However, the Skin Helper Service has the ability to choose from the available posters, maybe it's better to ask the skin developer to add support for that.

Skin helper context option should automatically be there in any skin that uses Skin helper animated posters as long as some conditions are matched for the movie, i.e. has IMDB, skin help option active etc. otherwise I don't think it shows up as an option.
