I am having the same issue in Kodi 15 (final release) on the Fire TV. Reading from SMB works fine but can't write. ES File Explorer can write to the same share from the Fire TV. SMB share is on a DD-WRT router (Linux) and not on a Windows machine. Have not tried it with Kodi on any other platform yet.

Hi, is there any update on this? I spent countless number of hours trying to get Kodi on AFTV to write subtitles on a samba share (on qnap) but to no avail. Then I stumbled on this thread. It'd be really good to get it working...
