RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - rb338 - 2015-11-04 I replaced my htpc (with Pulse-Eight USB-CEC device, love that thing!) with an Nvidia Shield TV last week, but my tv (LG 47LX9500) doesn't seem to recognize the Shield as a CEC device. The Shield does turn on my tv when waking from sleep mode though, but I can't use my tv remote to control the Shield (or Kodi). Is this normal, or should my tv recognize the Shield and should I be able to control Kodi? Of course I'll move this to Nvidia's forums if this should work, but I thought I'd try here first RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - Ogreen - 2015-11-04 No problem with my sony TV 9005B 4K with shield and kodi RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - querty1000 - 2015-11-04 (2015-11-04, 13:48)rb338 Wrote: I replaced my htpc (with Pulse-Eight USB-CEC device, love that thing!) with an Nvidia Shield TV last week, but my tv (LG 47LX9500) doesn't seem to recognize the Shield as a CEC device. Don't know about the Pulse-Eight device, but there are two issues: - if CEC doesn't work (anymore) and all the settings in TV are right, you have to unplug all your devices including the TV from ~230V net for a few minutes. Try switch the TV on to unload capacitors. After that mostly CEC works (again) - i have two HDMi cable, one made for 4k and Ethernet, and both cable doesn't work with CEC. I don't know why, but if i replace these cables with others it works. So its an Nvidia issue not a Kodi issue then I take it? I have no way to verify that. I don't have any other programs that will play VC-1 off my server. Plex is still in la-la land with wanting to transcode everything. I'll anyway push a "preemptive" fix for less well-behaving devices later. Just a correction to the above, the Shield does NOT ship for $150 via Amazon. That coupon code was made available to subscribers of the Nvidia newsletter for use in the Nvidia store, the price direct from them nets it down to the same $199 as found at Amazon. RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - hdmkv - 2015-11-04 Nope, it's $149.99 shipped for the 16GB model. RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - hdmkv - 2015-11-04 Just U.S. I believe. Cheers, Pity, the cheapest in the UK is £149 RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - paske - 2015-11-04 I also receive the code but from Amazon France so it has to be global... The discount code applies to the Nvidia store, which lists an MSRP of $50 more than the Amazon regular price. I got in touch with the moderator at the Nvidia forum, and this was his response: Quote:Please note this code is only good for the SHIELD Android TV purchased through the NVIDIA Store. It does not apply to SHIELD Android TV accessories or other items sold through NVIDIA Store. If you have other information, then please substantiate it, because so far your understanding seems faulty. I got in touch with the moderator at the Nvidia forum, and this was his response: I'm not sure of what you're trying to say. The SATV is listed for $199 on both the Nvidia Store and Amazon, so I don't know were you're getting that it's listed as $50 more. With the coupon code that makes it $149 from the Nvidia Store. Simple math......$199 - $50 = $149 |
