Awesome that Kodi is in the Google Play store on the Shield now. Thanks guys!!!

So it is - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.xbmc.kodi

Hows does this relate to the Shield and the test builds?

RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - Tinwarble - 2015-06-15

You can install it directly to the Shield without sideloading. The current Play Store version is 15 beta 2 and incorporates everything from the test builds. And test builds will just be regular nightlies now.

Thanks, reading about it here - http://kodi.tv/kodi-15-0-isengard-beta-2/ I guess I may have partial answer to why my library went tits up yesterday, and still is.
Now to find the right thread to post to.

Kodi is making a huge stride. I am guessing it is officially available in the Play Store and not the other mutant monstrosities.

Excellent work, guys...

Is it possible to use a more advanced remote ? Rc6 remote ?

RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - essential - 2015-06-15

I can confirm flirc (flirc.tv) works fine with the Shield. Between my Harmony(900) and flirc I have full control over Kodi from my remote. Nvidia only sent certain commands to Logitech in their Harmony profile, buttons like X on the game controller (which will bring up the ContextMenu in Kodi) will not work with the Nvidia Media Remote and cannot be programmed to any Logitech Harmony remote. However, adding flirc to your profile (Media PC --> Flirc --> Kodi) you can assign almost every missing Kodi function to your Harmony. Only issue is it seems sometimes it takes a couple clicks to get something to load from a button mapped to flirc, not sure if it's because it's plugged in to the back of the Shield and it just misses the signal or if it's a compatibility issue with Shield, but it works 90% of the time.

I thought of looking at Flirc, but found a far cheaper option, although you may be able to get more commands with the Flirc. My work around is here - http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=228158&pid=2026987#pid2026987

Yea, I saw your post, it's kind of what made me think to try the flirc (I already owned one, was using it with my one of my FireTVs). Had I not already owned a flirc I probably would have bought the one you suggested, however flirc having a Kodi profile already in Harmony makes things very easy to setup on the remote end. As for what I said about missing commands sometimes ... it's 10% of the time, most of the time the initial click works, but sometimes it misses, and I'm not sure why. I'm going to run a USB extender so the flirc is positioned a bit more in the open to see if it helps.

RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - SPMJC - 2015-06-15

Hi all.

I have the device and I love it.
I use Kodi for the video add-ons, not really for my own library.

They work fine except one..

That one gets video links from websites. the only links that dont work fine are HLS videos (*.m3u8). They play 10 seconds, buffer less than 1 sec, play 10 secs, buffer less than 1 sec,.. and so on.
The buffer doesnt take long, it could do continuous play if kodi was downloading the data while playing. But it seems like Kodi cant handle it correctly.
It needs to stop the playing to be able to download.

It is not the first time I am having this issue with Kodi on Android. I solved it in the past by installing a new ROM on other devices, but I dont want to do this on this device. .
Today's OTA didnt change anything.

Any recomendation?
(Hopefully someone found a solution and posted it but I didnt read the 40+ pages yet Smile )

That doesn't sound like a problem peculiar to the nvidia shield then does it?

How about you start a new thread and include a link to your debug log. Oh and be aware of http://kodi.wiki/view/Banned_add-ons and forum rules (wiki) if you are posting about streaming sites.

RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - ozkhan1 - 2015-06-16

My flirc is behaving weird with shield. First few c l icks are not recognized.

Same receiver worked flawlessly with ftv. I have tried clearing and resetting it up all over.

I have a feeling interkey delay on flirc software has something to do with it. Anybody know what the ideal interkey delay setting is? Mine is set to 5

That's too many "going to". 23.976fps, HD audio...etc.

I am "going to" get one for testing purpose only - no over-expectation / no complaint,
I am assuming they are not working and accepted that.Nod

EDIT: Just ordered one. 16GB version.

Now its called Shield TV it has been getting updates for its Media features.
As 23.976 is a feature that takes more effort, I hope they concentrate on this rather then getting more gaming related things in.

How about my Shield console (the small one, T4 CPU),
it sucks a big time, NVIDIA has given up on us right?

Looking forward to your findings. Big Grin
