RE: NVIDIA Shield (Android TV set-top box) - User 9163 - 2015-10-15

Is anyone using this box with ArgusTV on the backend? My rPi2 works perfectly and FireTV works OK with a few minor annoyances such as pixelation on skipping and not perfect de-interlacing. Looking for a smooth experience with SD/HD recorded TV and iPlayer along with a few Android games/streaming apps.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hello everybody here! Just received a SATV and I am experiencing frequent and continuous disconnections from my Netgear R7000, only on 5G network, Ethernet and N networks are working OK. Tried changing channels, no dice. My other 5G devices are connecting correctly. Any suggestion?
Regards
Alessandro

Hi guys,

Ive had a good look around the web but cannot seem to find what Im after.

What is the best video settings to use in Kodi to best utilize the hardware of the shield?

I.e Post Processing on or off
Bob or Bob inverted
Deinterlace on or off
Hardware acceleration filters on or off

There so many settings in kodi but im not sure what to do to get the best quality playback for the shield capabilities.

Thanks in advance guys.

15.2 RC3

• Fix refresh-rate switching on Android. This should improve on most devices like Nexus Player and NVIDIA SHIELD TV and others which use the Android API

Does Jarvis nightly builds have this fix?

I can't tell you if the fix is in the latest nightly (kodi-20151015-0e81866), but if you had to start a movie, then stop it then start it again after you first launched Kodi to get frame rate switching to kick in, then that may still be the case.

It seems that it was working as it should a few nightlies back, but then it went back to the same behavior.

Also, just a FYI for anyone that is using Aeon Nox 4.x (any version), although it was working fine for me in Isengard, Jarvis has broken it pretty badly. It causes Kodi to crash/freeze up a lot, View type settings is pretty badly broken and it seems to be causing a few other problems with Kodi.

So if you're using Nox 4 and you want/need to update to Jarvis, I strongly suggest you change skins.

Martijin,

Any comment on this: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=244054

Whatever changed happened last week was it intentional and I should bother the Titan skin maker, or was it accidental?

Depending on the author, some don't allow there apps to be moved to the SD card.

http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-partially-or-entirely-move-kodi-data-to-external-usb-storage/

Follow the details for fire rev2. The shield mounts the eternal sd to the same place /stroage/sdcard1 so the instructions in that post will work on the shield as well.
