Yeah...it cannot be what is not supposed to be
So if I rebuild all my nfo's it will work again...describe to me, what's going to happen to the files without IMDB/TMDB/TVDB ID?
But wait...I guess you will suggest to delete this files right?
And if I want to keep them (because everything was running smooth with tese files AND Trakt before) you will suggest me, to add all these files to the information hosters (even if this won't make sense), right?

Honestly, I couldn't tell you, if I could pinpoint it accurately, I would. Closest I can get to what's causing it, is a movie nfo has a particular entry that's either obsolete, erroneous or wrong. But it will still be coded into your myvideos.db file when scraped.
BUT, when you then trigger the trakt sync you will see it hang on synchronize movies at load up.
Tell you what, remove you movies source and trigger trakt sync. It should, hopefully work showing you what I'm referring to.
And if it is in your case a movie nfo, simply delete you movie nfosIf you want an easy way to do this, in linux use the find command at the root of your movie folder and fire off

Dear Razze, does Trakt addon have an issue with Kodi SMB library shares?
I have set up Kodi since last year using MySQL database. last many months I have noticed that trakt isn't syncing anything. the Last activity on my trakt account is from Nov 2020.
What could be the matter?
I have tried many times deleting all data etc for trakt & readding it & re authorizing it to no avail
I can provide a log if you require (the usual Kodi debug log, right?)

1) Since all my files are now managed by Ember (for a while actually) I triggered a refresh of all of them on Ember. I didn't delete them but in every case possible Ember re-downloaded the information from the provided and re-saved it locally. So for most of my movies I got a brand new version.
2) Search the filesystem for any .nfo files NOT UPDATED TODAY. So you will be looking at the exceptions now. Handle them one by one.
You will find out that beside the .nfo files created by Ember Media Manager there will be many more. In my case:
a) created by another scraper I used back in 2012, 2013
b) part of the file downloads with release information (ex: KLAXXON.nfo)
c) created in error, for multipart movies because I wasn't respecting the part# nomenclature for some old movies. (yes, you will find out for a few movies that you thought it was 100% and it was not).
d) some other abominations, which I also deleted.
So, it took me one hour and I made sure every movie folder had EXACTLY one .nfo file, the one that came from Ember. Then my Trakt plugin worked beautifully. Beats deleting all .nfo files for sure but you have to be willing to spend some time and clear the exceptions one by one like I did.

I recently tried to switch my Kodi scraper from TVDB to TMDB since Trakt will also switch to that as a backend.
Did this be deleting the TV as Source, clean the libary and then add a new source and set TMDB as scraper.
All shows and episodes were found correctly.
I noticed that the Trakt Watched Sync seems not to do anything after I added my TV Source again with TMDB as a scrapper, even after manually starting it.
After deleting the TV Source and adding it with TVDB as scraper it also started the Trakt Sync after the library update and synced the watched state of all episodes.
Should the Trakt plugin already be able to sync the watched state of episodes that have been scraped with TMDB?

Recently (the last month or two) trakt in Kodi is really hit or miss. Before it worked 100% of the time. I'm noticing two distinct issues but can't track down what is causing it. I've already reauthorized, uninstalled and reinstalled, and played around with various other settings.
1) When something is playing in Kodi and I go to trakt.tv, I can see (in the website) that the item is playing and I get accurate % completed updates. But, when the item ends, sometimes (often actually) the item isn't marked as watched in Trakt & the rating dialog never appears in Kodi;
2) Sometimes I don't even see the progress in Trakt at all, when I visit while playing the item, trakt shows nothing playing.
Any thoughts? Been using the plugin for at least 12-18 months without issues until now.

how does Trakt addon defines which item to add to collection?
I have a TV series in a folder DNA (2019). TMDB TV series scraper assigned https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/93286-dna, which right. But Trakt is adding this TV series - https://trakt.tv/shows/dna-2019-151355 to my collection.
I guess all this confusion because the same year two TV series were released:
DNA - https://trakt.tv/shows/dna-2019 - https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/93286-dna
DNA (NL) - https://trakt.tv/shows/dna-2019-151355 - https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/92761-dna
Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi All
Does trakt.tv work without having my library populated?
I use Asus rt-ac86u as an upnp server and in kodi I watch my rip movies directly from the DLNA server.
I use kodi on Nvidia shield 2017 and Galaxy S10.

So I uploaded to my drive and am sharing the link
Trakt is configured & linked on Kodi
However it does not do anything from my kodi install.
I cleaned & updated all nfo's on my library ( movies & TV Shows ) rescanned the whole library then re installed trakt and still running trakt does not do anything
I am really stumped here and would appreciate any help

Its As if the Trakt online & trakt addon on kodi are not connected ( even though they are )
Last update on Trakt was in October 2020 & I had smb shares mySQL library way before then.
I updated my whole TV Show & Move Library by fresh build up of .nfo's & careful check of if there are any previous rogue nfo/xml files and there are now NONE.
But doing that I have lost kind of all my watched status of TV Shows & Movies .... BUMMER
This is where trakt would be my saviour and a run of trakt after a fresh install would sync my local kodi with trakt online
and Now I am looking at an abyss !
I cannot & do not want to go manually update my WHOLE library watched statuses !
PLEASE ANYONE HELP

Can anyone guide me on definitely resetting and re authorizing my trakt , I have tried all the normal ways even after clearing settings and reinstalling but its not connecting any ideas?

Back it up
Try removing the addon files, if you can find them there

@Razze : I am pretty confident I have found what the main issue is.
My Trakt account is locked.
I enabled trakt debug ( Kodi debug was already on but trakt addon itself needed to be enabled debug ). Then trying to sync gave me these errors:

I looked online & there were others who have similar issues and their account was locked.
I have now written to trakt directly to unlock my account

@Razze Maybe we can use this as a support guide on the OP for others undergoing similar frustrations
BTW according to trakt website , the app using trakt api should be giving an error notification that the account is locked and to contact them directly .
I think this notification is not working at all within kodi.
