RE: Kodi Player Options with MVC/frame-packed 3D & HD Audio - fmedrano1977 - 2016-08-19

How does the kodi fluidity of the Inspiron Dell Micro desktop 3050 compare to the Chromebox running LibreELEC? I have some $200 in Dell rewards where I can get one for just a few bucks in price difference.

Yeah I get that part, what I'm wanting to know is if the Kodi UI experience on the 3050 is as fluid as the experience on a Chromebox.

I like Linus base Kodi ( OpenElec,LibreELEC, and KodiBuntu) better than Windows base, but if you 3D MVC for now, your only solution is Windows.
As for fluidity of browsing, i don't think you can see that much of difference.

I replaced a 1080 panel for a 2160 panel using Nvidia:

(1) KODI does NOT ENABLE Nvidia stereoscopic on quit.
KODI DOES DISABLE Nvidia stereoscopic when started though.

(2) ISO MVC switches to TAB mode instead of Frame Packed?
If I manually ENABLE stereoscopic system wide, ISO MVC still plays in TAB instead of Frame Packed.
If I play through external player, ISO MVC switches into Frame Packed mode as it should with no problems.

I move HDMI cable from 2160 panel and plug into 1080 panel and there is no problem.
I move HDMI cable from 1080 panel and plug into 2160 panel and problem returns.

One would think the 2160p panel is the problem except.... an external player works pefectly.
I think the build needs some updating if it's going to continue working for Nvidia 4k users.
Maybe something in the code to include 2160 and not just 1080?

Using fresh installed KodiSetup-20160630-d4d628c-msdk_mvc_wip

Log 1080p panel GOOD http://pastebin.com/qV1FLs0Y
Log 2160p panel NOT GOOD http://pastebin.com/4jgbhUMG

I don't think this is correct:

DEBUG: StereoscopicsManager: autodetected stereo mode for movie mode block_lr is: split_horizontal

1284.07:48:13 T:6548 ERROR: DXVA::CProcessorHD::IsFormatSupported - Unsupported format 105 for 1.

No. It's a SAMSUNG UN65JS8500 SUHD TV attached HDMI to my Windows 10 Intel Desktop with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti.
Previously I used a SAMSUNG UN55C8000 and the build worked fine. I am simply rebooting and swapping the HDMI cable between the two. The 1080 display works, the 2160 does not.
At any rate, an external player works perfectly on both so I'm ruling out display incompatibility and leaning towards code update if that is still being maintained or even monitored.

Thought other 4k users using this build might chime in.

OK. I will be getting a nVIDIA GTX 1060 next week. I will check this out on my TV which is also a Samsung JS8500.

Sounds good. Thanks for the help.
What is your present setup and are you able to use this build with that panel?
Just trying to distinguish if it's the build or some hardware conflict I'm not aware of.
I'm blindly guessing the build was coded around 1080 and 2160 has gremlins.

I also have the 65 in JS8500, now I'm wondering whether I should go ahead and still purchase the Dell Inspiron Micro 3050 as planned.

Didn't realize that there is a lot of Samsung JS users here.Tongue

I have an Intel Haswell (HD Graphics 4600) setup now. I just checked builds as far back as 4/13 and I am only getting TAB output from 3D MVC ISO if the desktop resolution is set to 2160p30 (that is the highest HD Graphics 4600 can go). If I change the desktop resolution to 1080p, then I get frame packing output. Windows display settings does give a warning that 2160p doesn't support stereoscopic mode. As you have mentioned, it seems to work with other players (PowerDVD, madVR/LAV etc.). It looks like it may be a limitation of this MVC build or Intel Media SDK.

I can't remember now what resolution I had when I was testing these builds when the other 3D thread was "alive".

@brazen1 Hi,

Just a question. Do you have the same quality with ISO 3D " split horitonzal / disabled Stereoscopic in panel Nvidia 3D '' and iso 3D '' Frame packed / enabled Stereoscopic in panel Nvidia 3D '' ?

Another one worth looking for:
Spears and Munsil HD Benchmark 2nd Edition 3D

Both 2D and 3D testing/calibrations.
Can be "found" as an .iso if you look in the right places Angel

I don't exactly understand your question?
I use 3D.iso.
I always have stereoscopic enabled in Nvidia Control Panel when using an external player.
This build disables stereoscopic system wide when starting KODI and enables it automatically ONLY when a 3D title is selected. (Using Nvidia with additional code in advancedsettings.xml)
Having only just today started testing 3D frame packed, I have not had a chance yet to compare with SBS or TAB.

Side note:
I am no longer using this build unless it gets updated in which case I will test again.
The move to 4k using this build is no longer viable since I'm using Intel with Nvidia.
Currently I am using v17 alpha, together with scripts I have written.
Mainly to properly switch a 4k panel to 24Hz at 4:4:4 using internal and external players seamlessly within KODI both 2D and 3D including choice of players. (No internal 3D 17A build)
I have found with UHD Color Setting enabled on my Samsung (In order to get 4:4:4) it wreaks havoc on many things but I have worked out most if not all problems and kept EVERYTHING completely automated and in memory.
Biggest obstacle is switching inputs between cable TV and PC and both working 100% after switch.
I think I have that worked out shortly here.
I can tell you external player renders Display Info active 1920x1080p 3D to each eye and it looks incredible.
Coming from my 1080p setup to this 4k setup is the difference between night and day.
2D Blu-ray upscaled to 3840x2160p 24Hz equally as impressive.
I've read a lot about Nvidia GTX960 being the bare minimum HDMI 2.0 but I've got this working with a GTX650 ti 24Hz, 30Hz, 60Hz, etc 4:2:0 and 4:4:4.
Pretty happy so far.
