i fixed the black screen issue, its not KODI DS or MADVR,...what was happening was when I pressed x on my remote to stop it would stop but also minimise to desktop, my desktop is black and my start menu hidden, hence the black screen. I think this was actually a problem with my AUTOHOTKEY script, I had a key mapped to that, bizarrely it was sending x + #d which is stop and minimise, very odd, there was nothing in my script. I deleted the line and re-added and now all ok.

So i'm now just left with the mystery why I have to use FSE mode to get MVC framepacked 3D when the whole world (mostly NVIDIA users) tells me I shouldnt need it.

well not out of the woods yet, everything plays fine but now my PC hangs when I stop a movie in KODI DS, doesnt happen with identical settings in MPC, not memory dump, no minidump, nothing in events, fans still spinning, no picture not network, losing the will to live here Sad

might of stumbled on a sweet spot for 4K RX users using KODI DS (havent tried MPC yet)

- AMD driver 17.11.2 (fixes HEVC HDR playback - seems to be on the only stable drive, latest locks up using FSE
- Use 1080p for KODI DS GUI, if you use 4k when you stop a movie, usually a 3D one you get HDMI loss which can only be retrieved with a DEVCON restart.
- use FSE in MADVR to get 3D MVC (doesnt work without)
- use DIRECT3D in MADVR - HDR passthrough doesnt work without.
- use full screen window in KODI DS, seem more stable.
 - user 24p display modes not 23p, this also causes lockups and HDMI loss for me but it could be an issue with my LG OLED

i'll need a few days to see how stable this is, KODI doesnt tend to switch back to 4k desktop on closing but i've had this problem for ages so its unrelated.

MADVR takes a few seconds sometimes, what is your PC spec like, whats you CPU/GPU/RAM specs?

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - SkankHunt - 2017-12-12

I'm having some serious reliability issues with DSPlayer, it seems I can't reliably get it to playback 3D MVC content or HDR content. It seems like KODI isn't reseting OS system states which would also explain issues of it not always returning/reseting back to 2160p at 60Hz when playback is complete. Can anyone who is having success share their settings, I've been trying to diagnose these problems for months now and am starting to get desperate. nVidia Driver: 385.69, OS Version: 10.0.16299

I switched form my current AMD RX 550 which I was tearing my hair out with to see if the NVIDIA GTX 1050 was any better. This doesnt require FSE for MVC playback so it should be rock stable at the moment. Soon as I got it in it played fine, every time no issues. However HDR was a mess, it  either didnt work or destroyed the image or crashed my PC on stopping, this was just with DIRECT3D enabled, not FSE.

Then 3D just stopped working, I went through NVIDIAS setup again and it turned on and off but wouldnt trigger from MADVR no matter what I did it. Spent ages reinstalling everything, no joy. Then I noticed I was getting dropped frames so I tried to dial in a custom res, that wouldnt save either, spent hours faffing with it, best I got was a frame drop every 9 mins with Reclock, not acceptable to me when its hours pr sometimes days before a frame drop on me RX550.\

All problems for me stem for windows 10 anniversary update, it started getting unstable then but Creators fall did the most damage, its trashed FSE.

So I went back to the RX550 again and I think i've found a workaround for 3D MVC with my card. It plays fine 100% of the time but my PC would crash totally when I stopped the movie. What I noticed was that if I put my desktop in 1080p mode first and then play the movies it stops fine with both KODI DS and MPC, the problem with windows 10 and FSE seems to be the changing of resolutions when stopping and playing some movies.

I've now setup two different KODI DS start shortcuts on my remote, one just starts it normally for all 2D/4K/HDR stuff, the other drops my desktop into 1080p, waits 2 seconds and then starts KODI DS.

Not ideal, need to wait a few days to see how stable it is, i've thought i've got it stable a few times with other settings only to start getting hangs again, i've had to reboot my server about 50 times in the last 7 days and i've lost to hard drives and a NIC to constant power cycles.

fecking Microsoft.

Take a look at the links on the first post under the "DSPlayer PVR Filters Development" section.  It's fully dependent on which PVR backend you're using.  If it is WMC well then you're SOL.  However the WMC dev's can make it compatible by changing how they stream the video to Kodi.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - willemd - 2017-12-12

I've been using DSPlayer for about a week now. So far so good!

Just one question. For some videos I use a subtitle plugin to download subs (like from Opensubtitles.org). They are downloaded to a path on my samba server. In Kodi dvdplayer, they're automatically loaded when I replay a video, but it doesn't work with DSPLayer. When I try to enable subs, I get the message that they're not found. I've added the path to xysubfilter. (I tried two notations: file://192.168.1.1/subs and \\192.168.1.1\subs.) It does work when I manually re-download subs through the plugin, so the system is capable of it. Internal subtitles (in a mkv) or subtitles in the same folder as the video file also do work.

I'm pretty much a noob with madvr, filters and DSPlayer, so perhaps I missed one of the many options somewhere. Who can tell me how to setup the downloaded subtitles from my samba share?

Does  add on "madvr settings" need to be updated to reflect the changes in version v0.92.10?

But it looks like Kodi 17.6 is not supportet and i dont want to use ffmpeg because i cannot timeshift :/  In MePo 1.18 Live TV with madVR works perfect inkl. Pause / Timeshift funktion. But i dont want to use MePo only for Live TV
