RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-02-27

i'm starting to have some issues with this version now too, I cant play any of these episodes, just get a black screen with 0 in all queues in MADVR control+J

All play fine in MPC BE using identical MADVR settings. A full fresh portable install also fails so its defo an issue with with DS, I havent tried any older version yet or dialling back the LAV / MADVR version to those available with this release.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - spencerjford - 2018-02-27

Not sure why that won't play.  That's odd

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-02-28

yeah I know, its a DS issue though as it plays in both MPC-HC and BE and plays using core video player. I created a brand new install of DS and that failed as well, I may look at trying an old version at some point.

Luckily I only have one folder of these types I think, i'm going to replace them with 1080p rips.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - lgewrd - 2018-03-01

we have
win10, x64, i5-3450, video integrator, installed SVP 4

open mkv player MPC-HC. turn on the SVP jitter test
the strip runs smoothly

Now
Kodi 16.1 rc-2,
video renderer - madVR
filters - internals
video decoder - lav
extra external filter - ffdshow raw video
run mkv, turn on the SVP jitter test
in full screen the band is twitching
switch alt + enter to the window,
run mkv, turn on the SVP jitter test
the band is level
who the thread faced with this?

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Cynwrig - 2018-03-01

I am getting really annoyed by the issue I am lately having. I am using 2 screens on the same kodi computer. Everytime I switch to one screen or the other my playback gets permanently fucked up until I restart kodi completely... My picture looks like everything got moved down a notch. On 16:9 picture subtitles are cut off and at the top it's just a black bar.

Please anyone who had this issue help me. I lived with it for far too long now. It also kills my whole remote setup without keyboard...

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Kolabor - 2018-03-01

Can someone (or @aracnoz) make 17.6 build with this fresh commit from Leia? This allows to use 4K fanart.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Bibio - 2018-03-01

first off i must say that this is a fantastic player. i got driven mad trying to get an external player 'MPC-BE' working properly with kodi 17. the player worked great but on exit kodi would minimise to the taskbar :-)

i'm slowly getting my head round the settings and so far so good.

what i would like to know is.. can you set up different 'profiles' for different content? what i mean by this, lets say i have filenames with moviename (DVD).mkv, moviename (BR).mkv and moviename (4K).mkv. can you set up different profiles so when launching one of the moviename (?) files it recognises the (?) and changes to a different settings profile.

i could set different players in playerfactory.xml for different content based on the file name structure with external players. as such would launch the correct configured player.

thanks

incase anyone else has come accross black screens when playing some stuff, i think, i cant be sure though, ive got to the bottom of this. If I turn off  "show bluray titles and matroska editions..." they play. I noticed that when playing them in a much older version a dialog box would come up where a choice had to be made between matroska versions or something, I didnt take much notice of what it said but when I was going though the settings randomly turning stuff on and off to see what would break it this did the trick. No idea whats going on here but everything is working fine again now.

yeah, its totally the best media library player available IMHO.

you can create profiles in MADVR and switch to those using hot keys, not really sure why you'd need different profile in DS, do you have and example of what you are trying to achieve with profiles?

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Bibio - 2018-03-01

i would like to add as little upscaling/downscaling and rendering to 4k files as possible and would much prefer to just 'passthrough' content, same goes for 2k as the quality is fine. but i would like to 'clean up' the SD (dvd) picture.

all my files are from original discs and played 'local' e.g. from HDD's.

i have just upgraded to 4k and before such i was completely happy with just the standard player in kodi regarding PQ, which never missed a beat, skipped or 'juddered', i had perfect playback with an R7 250 2gig OC card. to be honest i'm only using DSPlayer so i can play 4k.

i'm using a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050ti 4gig G1 if it helps.

i'm not one for fiddling or constant updates. i just like to get things set and sit back to watch films.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-03-02

its still totally unclear what you are asking of the forum, if you want a minimal setup then why do you want profiles, what for exactly?

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - vicmanpergar - 2018-03-02

last time I looked u could have MADvr profiles from the same Kodi GUI (though people have been debating whether they prefer this way or the normal way from MADvr itself).
If i remember right, while u play something, u just go into the player menu, video, and adjust all DSPlayer settings there, and before leaving, go below to the last setting and save.
Probably more in deep changes can be made from the XML files themselves.

4k files look washed out while bluray looks superb and dvd looks ermm well very SD.

yup while playing with settings last night i discovered this. you can save the profile for different resolutions e.g. 2160, 1080, 720, etc.etc.

something i have noticed is random screen and sound dropouts using the 64bit version. i'm going to install the 32bit later tonight and see if that helps.

on a side note i can play the jellyfish-400-mbps-4k-uhd-hevc-10bit.mkv sample smooth but it takes a while to 'settle' and after about 6 seconds things are fine. i have tried other demo files such as LG Rays of Light 4K, LG Eye of Storm which are 60hz and they are fine but again with random dropouts of picture.

if i can sort the dropouts i will be a happy chappy.

is there a way to use wasapi passthrough like kodi built in player?

something else.. when using my old R7 205 2gig graphics card the movie would start playing instantly with kdoi inbuilt player. using the DSplayer and the 1050ti it takes it sweet time about it and the sound starts before the picture.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-03-02

are you playing movies on a HDR capable TV by passing through HDR data or are you converting to SDR in MADVR?, washed out suggests your monitor or TV isnt going into HDR mode.

might be worth listing your full relevant specs.

If I were you i'd get everything working using MPC-BE and MADVR, then come back to KODI DS once you've ruled out any issue with MADVR/LAV/DRIVERS etc.

There are a few things you need to enable in MADVR to get HDR working too, like DIRECT3d 11
