It hasn't been updated for Krypton, but it covers most DSPlayer settings.(2018-03-22, 16:30)Warner306 Wrote:Okay, so I hooked up an entirely different machine (with an AMD APU instead of Intel + GTX 970) with a fresh Windows 10 64-bit installation. I only copied over my library and GUI settings and changed some basic settings for DSPlayer. When I start playing a video with Dolby Digital (with bitstreaming enabled) Kodi will now crash. If I play a file with DTS it will play correctly (and use LAV Audio). When I disabled bitstreaming Dolby Digital and let LAV decode the audio for me, Kodi does not crash and will play the file (using LAV Audio filter).(2018-03-21, 21:39)bivab Wrote: Alright, good to know. So it's more decoding/unzipping rather than transcoding?LAV Audio might use that decoder. I don't know. It seems like a strange thing for aracnoz to miss in testing. What kind of hardware decoding are you using? Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mkohman - 2018-03-24 Hey guys.. Really need some help... I am trying to play 4K movies and I am passing through on madvr the video is playing very choppy and I can not for the life of me get a good picture.. Its just choppy and very slow... Both my desktop and Kodi resolution is set at 3840 x 2160.. I have actually tried it at 1920 x 1080p still choppy.. What am I doing wrong please? This is a screen shot for madvr setting whilst playing a video.. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2018-03-24 (2018-03-24, 19:22)mkohman Wrote: Hey guys.. Its just choppy and very slow...Your rendering is too high. It is over the movie frame interval. And your present queue is empty and none of the other decoders are full. Also indicative of rendering times being too high. You need to lighten the load on your GPU. What kind of GPU are you using? RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mkohman - 2018-03-24 Thank you so so much.. I really appreciate your help.. I have the Sapphire Pulse RX560 4GB card... How do I change the load. What do I set it too please? Also do I have the desktop and Kodi resolution at 4K or 1080p? Thank you RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2018-03-24 (2018-03-24, 21:01)mkohman Wrote: Thank you so so much.. I really appreciate your help.. I have the Sapphire Pulse RX560 4GB card...Set chroma upscaling to Bilinear to start. Do you have artifact removal turned on? Turn all of them off until you get the rendering time down, especially reduce compression artifacts. Set dithering to ordered. I thought the RX 560 was more capable than that? What kind of hardware acceleration are you using? It should be copy-back or D3D11. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-03-24 My RX 460 is about 10-20 % slower than yours, best thing to do when you are having problems is go back to default and keep it really simple, dial in my settings and once you get it running well then you can have a tinker with everything. 1. Run your PC in 4:2:0 10 bit, ignore what people have told you, this is only to ensure max compatibility while you are testing this, set you LAV decoder to D3D11 but make sure that you GFX card is selected and that it doesnt say "native", i've noticed that you get a little more processing umpf from this decoder now over straight COPYBACK. Set KODI DS to 2160p same as your desktop, tick full screen window. !!!!! MADVR !!!!!! DISPLAY 2. reset MADVR completely and leave all settings as default. 3. setup your display to PC levels (0-255), set it as 10 bit 4. Set calibration off for now. (see notes at bottom) 5. put nothing at all in display modes unless you are only playing 2D movies, if you are playing 3D stuff use KODI refresh rate switching instead. RROCESSING 6. do nothing. SCALING 7. Chroma - lanczos 3 tapes, do not change anything else 8. Leave down scale as you wont be downscaling anything if you have a 4k display 9. Image upscaling, NGI sharp MEDIUM, mine can handle this so your will be able to. 10. upscaling refinement - do nothing RENDERING 11. General - tick use Direct3D / present a frame for every Vsync, tick full screen exclusive only if you are playing 3D movies. 12. stereo 3D, tick everything for 3D playback 13. dithering - ordered dithering, you will find that this card wont be able to use error diffusion for 4k HDR movies, it will hammer the GPU. - use Ordered dithering. 14. Trade quality for performance - untick everything except - optimize subtitle quality. Obviously this assumes you havent setup any profiles, you could do this for dithering for instance where you could use error diffusion for non HDR movies, or ramp up processing for 1080p stuff, for not just use the above settings, you can break it as much as you like later when you've got a decent playback benchmark to strart form. NOTES - you may find that colour output might be wrong when using madvr, stuff for some movies might look very red, if so turn calibration on and set it to BT2020 with a BT709 curve, you can experiment with this though. Let me know how this goes. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-03-24 also, create a folder in your MADVR folder called "ShowRenderSteps", this opens out your rendering figures so we can see whats going on, see here. Here is my dialogue below, i am playing a full 4K HDR movie and it plays beautifully. https://www.dropbox.com/s/q7e1f20ds808s4k/interstellar%20%282014%29.4K.HDR.mkv_snapshot_01.57.26_%5B2018.03.24_20.06.21%5D.jpg?dl=0 RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-03-24 ignore the frame drops, movies hadnt settled down yet after I skipped to that point. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2018-03-24 Use profiles for each content and follow the settings in my guide. A general use profile won't work well for everything. For example, you should be able to use higher settings for chroma upscaling when playing 4K content, but will want to turn this down and focus on luma doubling for any resolution below 2160p. No upscaling is used at 4K, so this setting is irrelevant. And use different settings in the GPU for different refresh rates if possible. Using 4:2:0 means the chroma upscaling setting in madVR won't do anything, as it will be erased by the GPU before reaching the display. In this case, you could set chroma upscaling to Bilinear and not notice the difference. The desktop should be 8-bit RGB at 60Hz. Any refresh rate below 30Hz should be 10-bit RGB. Then you have the full RGB 4:4:4 signal (with chroma upscaling) during video playback being sent to the display. And the choice of hardware decoder won't matter at all to madVR. There is no performance improvements. Two completely different parts of the GPU are being used. And if you aren't using native D3D11 decoding, then copy-back is being used anyways, so there is no difference from regular copy-back. With that said, just use D3D11. It is the newest decoder. Lastly, set calibration to DCI-P3 as no current display can do BT.2020. All are DCI-P3. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mkohman - 2018-03-24 Thank you.. I have done everything you have suggested . However nothing has changed.. The picture is still choppy choppy.. 1080p is fine but 4K no.... here is 4K video https://youtu.be/Nzi6nJfXirI Here is 1080p https://youtu.be/s2zDRUzAHPw RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mkohman - 2018-03-24 Thank you so much.. I will try those out now.. [emoji106] RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-03-24 ok, switch to MPC-HC instead, set MADVR as your renderer and play the same movie, make sure you enable full screen and set MPC-HC to refresh rate change. if this works ok then its time for a KODI DS WIPE, I always test my MADVR settings in MPC-HC first, just easier. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-03-24 (2018-03-24, 22:20)Warner306 Wrote: Use profiles for each content and follow the settings in my guide. No upscaling is used at 4K, so this setting is irrelevant.you'll just have to bear with me here, there are reasons for making the suggestions that I did, like I said, let him get a basic setup working then make any change he wants, these are settings I know work, its a good enough base to start from. Calibration: where true, if there is a problem with ouput the settings you dial in are going to be wrong, as calibration off is wrong, I should set mine as DCI-P3 with a BT709 curve but its still too red compared to the EVR render output, using BT2020 dials back the red and the picture is now identical to EVR, no idea why this is but this setting corrects the problem. i'm not the only seeing this and it happens on both my 4k 2015 OLED and 2016 samsung 4k LCD, i swapped out my RX for my NVIDIA and the problem went away so I know its a bug with the RX card. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mclingo - 2018-03-24 i'm going to be away for a while now while i consume wine and Jessica jones - so later my advice may be even worse than usual... if I make it back tonight at all... RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mkohman - 2018-03-24 Unfortunately same thing even with mpc hc.. I'm starting to think it's probably my motherboard not being a good match for my GPU.. My GPU is PCI-E 3 and my motherboard has a PCI-E 1 slot.. So I don't think it's running at full speed maybe? Here are some pics of my hardware... |
